Canyon and Pollu were named MVPs of the series
The second week of the LCK concluded this Sunday, August 3, with two best-of-threes. OKSavingsbank BRION claimed their third win in four matches in the Rise Group by defeating DN Freecs, who are still winless this split and now on a ten-game losing streak. Gen.G followed with a dominant 2-0 victory over Nongshim RedForce, the only other team yet to secure a win, as they continue to struggle in the Legend Group.
That marks the end of Round 3 in the LCK Round 3–5 phase, effectively concluding the first of three round robins in this Summer Split in Korea. In the Rise Group, Dplus KIA dominate with a commanding 13 wins, while DN Freecs sit at the bottom with a 1–21 record. In between, BRO, BNK FearX, and DRX are neck-and-neck with similar scores. Over in the Legend Group, Gen.G remain far ahead at 21–1, with Hanwha Life Esports and T1 close behind at 16 and 15 wins respectively. KT Rolster and Nongshim RedForce round out the group with just eleven and ten wins.
Snowball from Gen.G, throw from the Freecs
The first game of the day was a close battle between the two teams, ultimately going in favor of BRION after a late-game push led by Lee "Clozer" Ju-hyeon on Cassiopeia, who also reached the milestone of 1,000 kills in the LCK. Game 2 was a shocker—Lee "BuLLDoG" Tae-young picked up his 500th LCK kill, and DN Freecs built a massive 11,400 gold lead, making the game seem all but won. But in a stunning turnaround, BRION pulled off a miracle comeback, with Byeon "Hype" Jeong-hyeon playing a major role. Still, throwing a lead that large is simply unacceptable.
The second series of the day was far more controlled and unfolded as expected. Gen.G executed a clean snowball in Game 1, closing it out in just 29 minutes. Game 2 was even more one-sided—MSI and EWC champions Gen.G were in full control, even jokingly trying to set up a pentakill for Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk in the final moments. However, Hwang "Kingen" Seong-hoon refused to go down easily, denying the moment and leaving Ruler with a quadra kill. Gen.G now sit at three wins from four series in the Legend Group, their only loss so far coming at the hands of T1.
