GIANTX PRIDE, Los Heretics and Barça advance to EMEA's Main Event, VVV sent to LCQ
Already crowned champions of the Superliga Summer Split, GIANTX Pride have now triumphed at the Final Four, the tournament that brings together the four teams with the most championship points across the year to decide the overall champion and the seeding for the EMEA Masters Summer. They secured the title with a 3-1 victory over Los Heretics at the Madrid Arena.
The final opened with a dominant performance by GIANTX Pride, who steamrolled Los Heretics in the first game thanks to standout showings from Korean Jung “Feisty” Seonghun and Turkish Hakan “Ferret” Mert. Los Heretics bounced back in a tightly contested second game, which wasn’t decided until past the 40-minute mark.
The back-and-forth continued in game three. Despite Los Heretics holding the lead for much of the match, a crucial teamfight allowed GXP to turn the tide and move one win away from the championship. They sealed the title in the fourth game, demonstrating superior objective control and guided by MVP Mario “Exofeng” Emilo — who was replacing Berat "Aetinoth" Tıknazoğlu for the event — securing the third point and reclaiming a throne they hadn’t occupied since summer 2021.
All eyes on EMEA Masters
All four Final Four squads, GIANTX Pride, Los Heretics, Barça eSports, and VENI VIDI VICI, will now set their sights on the EMEA Masters Summer 2025, where they will represent Spain on the continental stage. GXP enters the tournament with momentum as Superliga champions, while Los Heretics look to redeem themselves after falling just short in Madrid and restore their reputation. They will hope to go further this time at the EMEA Masters, having fallen in the quarterfinals both in Winter and Spring earlier this year.
Barça eSports will be looking to close out their year in the best way possible. Since the departure of Francisco “Thayger” Mazo to Natus Vincere in the LEC, the Blaugranas have struggled to find their rhythm and wins, as reflected in their Summer Split, which they finished in 8th place.
Meanwhile, the newly promoted VVV will take their underdog story onto the European stage after an impressive debut season, proving themselves as the fourth most consistent team in the Superliga. To earn their first-ever main event appearance, however, they will need to make it through the Last Chance Qualifier at the EMEA Masters.
