Team Vitality are considering a midlane change, but nothing is guarenteed
According to Sheep Esports sources, Team Vitality has decided to start their offseason by allowing Mateusz "Czajek" Czajka to explore his options for next year, while the midlaner is still under contract until 2027. After a rookie year above expectations, Czajek has been allowed to look for alternative options in case Team Vitality finds a new midlaner.
Czajek could still remain with Vitality, as there are only a few midlaners the French organization might consider an upgrade. One such option is Vladimiros "Vladi" Kourtidis, who is reportedly being pursued by multiple teams. In the meantime, Czajek and his agency have been in discussions with several organizations across both the LEC and the LCS.
A year of wasted potential
At the club for three years now, Czajek spent his first two seasons sin the LFL with Vitality.Bee. He notably reached the final of the EMEA Masters in the summer of 2024. After his good performances, Vitality decided to promote him to the main team along with his teammate Kaan "Naak Nako" Okan in the toplane.
"We spent a while working with him when he was still on the LFL, in his playoffs run at EMEA Masters and we saw how quickly Czajek was able to learn and how enthusiastic he was about learning", the Vitality coaching staff said to Sheep Esports to explain this choice. Despite some people expecting him to be too weak for the LEC level, he displayed a level that met the demands of the major European league.
However, despite his performances, Vitality didn't achieve the expected results at the beginning of the season. In the winter, the Bees were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. In the spring, they lost in a tiebreaker against Team Heretics. They achieve their best result in the summer with a top 6 despite a defeat against Karmine Corp, which ended their season. A sense of incompleteness, mainly due to synergy issues illustrated by the two changes in the support position during the year.
A lot of midlane changes
Czajek distinguished himself during the season for his quality on mages and carries, but despite showing great signs, Vitality needs to consider all its options. While Natus Vincere, SK Gaming, Team Heretics, and Karmine Corp are also possibly changing their midlaner, Vitality is the fifth team to join this list.
