Jezu and Riip are the new ZYB's botlane
The final member of ZYB was found rather quickly. After Yasin "Nisqy" Dinçer announced on Monday that the team needed to recruit a new support, only a few hours later Jean "Jezu" Massol joined the roster as AD carry, prompting a slight reshuffling of roles.
Ersin "Blue" Gören, who was initially expected to take on the support position, had to withdraw due to "a lack of time and availability," according to Nisqy on his Twitch stream. Riip, who was meant to play AD Carry, will now occupy the support role alongside Jezu. The French player—who had announced his retirement after this year’s Spring Split—returns to competition within a decidedly unconventional project.
Jezu already back
Having become accustomed to practicing together in inhouses against various player mixes, the team had been scrimming with a replacement for Blue earlier in the week. To let Riip play in his natural role, the team tested him as support—an experiment that initially produced lackluster results. However, synergy quickly developed between Jezu and the rest of the roster, leading to strong performances in inhouses and convincing both parties to continue working together, for better or for worse.
This marks a return to professional play for Jezu, whose retirement proved short-lived. After a career mostly spent in the LFL and a two-year stint with SK Gaming in the LEC, the French ADC decided to retire at 25 following one last run with Galions. He spent the final three years of his career with the organization (formerly Team GO). When the team signed Franciszek "Harpoon" Gryszkiewicz for the Summer Split, Jezu chose to step away from competitive play. Now, he returns within a project that will allow him, in his own words, “to keep competing without having to sacrifice [his] life outside of the game.”
