Leny won the NLC with Venomcrest Esports in 2024
Toplaner Leny "Leny" Albertini is set to join Esprit Shonen in the Ligue Française de League of Legends, sources tell Sheep Esports on Thursday. He will therefore go into his second year in the LFL after a first season in the French league with Joblife, which did not go very well.
On Esprit Shonen’s side, the roster is now complete. To recap events in chronological order, Esprit Shonen won the LFL Up & Downs against BDS Academy and thus secured a slot in the LFL, provided they could finance it.
In an interview with Sheep Esports, CEO Ayoub "Noachu" Ait Baalla expressed his concern that the team might not be able to move up to the LFL if they couldn’t secure the necessary funds. A month later, as we reported, the team was definitively locked in the LFL and could begin its offseason—an offseason that was not going to be very eventful.
Almost the same roster
In the same interview published mid-October, when discussing the plans for next year, Noachu said: “I’d like to keep the same team. […] If there’s a chance to keep players, we’ll do it.” And that’s exactly what happened: four of the five players who won the Up & Down are staying with the team. Those players are Sergi "CRoNiiK" Señé Molist in the jungle, Serkan "xKenzuke" Atılgan in the midlane, Berkant "Avra" Ilhan as AD Carry, and Aziz "Mxe" Görkem Altınpınar in the support role.
Only the toplane changes this year with the departure of Mehdi "Potent" Ahmed Bouchaffra, who has joined Vitality.Bee. He will be replaced by Leny as part of a project with a clear ambition: to compete at the top of the LFL and qualify for the EMEA Masters. “For me, we want to win splits, win EMEA Masters.”
A difficult year in the LFL
Leny is still early in his career. After starting in the Nexus Tour in 2023, he quickly moved into Tier 2 with Venomcrest Esports in the NLC, winning the Summer Split, reaching the EMEA Masters, earning Spring Rookie of the Split, and making the NLC All-Pro Team. He later joined Joblife for their first year in the LFL and delivered a solid individual season, but the team struggled to perform overall—finishing 7th–8th in Winter, second-to-last in Spring, and 8th in Summer.
