Daeny only missed qualifying for Worlds with T1 in 2021
BiliBili Gaming’s busy offseason is nearing its conclusion. The reigning LPL champions officially announced on Wednesday, December 10, the arrival of Yang "Daeny" Dae-in as the team’s new Head Coach, following his stint with Invictus Gaming in 2025.
If there’s one thing that can be said about Daeny, it’s that he’s no stranger to leading star-studded rosters like BLG’s. A member of the World Championship-winning coaching staff with DAMWON (now Dplus KIA) in 2020, he also worked with T1 before joining Weibo Gaming and the LPL in 2022, where he led the team to the finals of the 2023 League of Legends World Championship held in South Korea, ultimately falling short against T1.
The following year, he guided Weibo to a runner-up finish in the LPL Summer Split and a semifinal run at Worlds. In 2024, he helped Invictus Gaming secure third place in the LPL Split 2 and qualify for Worlds by defeating JD Gaming 3–1 in the regional finals, though they were later eliminated by T1 1–3 in the Play-In stage.
A strong offseason to move past Worlds and a difficult year
BLG stated, “Coach Yang Dae-in brings a wealth of experience and an exceptional ability to build effective training systems. We believe his arrival will provide the team with top-tier strategic insight and a scientifically structured training approach.”
The signing, along with BLG’s entire offseason, reflects the organization’s determination to bounce back from their disappointing 2025 Worlds performance, in which they suffered a humiliating exit in the Swiss Stage after defeats to 100 Thieves, G2 Esports and Top Esports.
With Daeny’s arrival, the return of Peng "Xun" Li-Xun after a year at JD Gaming, and the highly anticipated signing of Park "Viper" Do-hyeon, marking his return to the LPL, expectations around BLG are higher than ever.
And in a league where Anyone’s Legend — the Split 2 champions and clear second-best team of the year — have re-signed their entire roster for 2026, BLG will need to raise their game and refresh their strategies. For now, their appearance in the 2024 Worlds Finals feels like a distant memory.
