Can Apples go for his fifth EMEA Masters qualification in a row?
Žiga "Apples" Jereb will be joining Karmine Corp Academy for 2024. Sources have told Sheep Esports that he will be Assistant Coach of the LFL team.
A few teams later
Apples is a well known name behind the scenes in European Regional Leagues. This is probably due to the considerable amount of teams that he coached in the past. At the bottom of this article, we will showcase a screenshot from Leaguepedia about the amount of teams that Apples joined in the past five years.
The surprising fact about it, is that Apples still qualified to the last four editions of EMEA Masters.
Entropiq Spring 2022
After winning the Hitpoint Masters 2022 Spring Playoffs with a score of 3-0 against eSuba. At the EU Masters Spring Play-In, Apples and his team made it past Group Stage. However, they were eliminated by Unicorns Of Love in their qualificaiton match for the Main Stage.
JD|XL Summer 2022
While JD|XL couldn't make it to the NLC finals, they still managed to qualify to the EU Masters. Indeed, the NLC was a strong ERL back then and still had three seeds at the tournament. Sadly, JD|XL failed to make it to the next stage as NLC's third seed. They were eliminated in group stage with a score of 2-4.
aNc Outplayed Spring 2023
After losing to Macko Esports in the finals. Apples qualified with his new team once again through play-ins, this time as the second seed of PG Nationals.
aNc Outplayed also failed to make it to the Main Stage. The Italian representatives were eliminated with a score of 3-3.
Nativz Summer 2023
Back in the NLC for Summer, Apples joined Nativz last split. However, this time his team qualified as first seed after beating NORD Esports in the NLC finals.
In the main event, Nativz had a strong impression. Indeed, the team took a game off Karmine Corp in the first round of group stage. Sadly for them Karmine Corp got their revenge in the second round. Both teams ended with a score of 3-3 as Macko Esports dominated the group. Karmine Corp ended up winning the tiebreaker and later on won the entire tournament.
During this impressive performance, Apples was coaching Nativz Midlaner Vladimiros "Vladi" Kourtidis, who is also set to join the LFL team. Both are now joining the team they lost against.
Taking Wadi's spot
The Assistant Coach position for Karmine Corp in the LFL follows the promotion of Wadi "Wadi" Benarbia to the Head Coach position, as previously reported by Sheep Esports.
Apples has big shoes to fill this time. Qualifying a fifth time in a row for the EMEA Masters, this time from the strongest ERL, would be a big feet. However, this is nothing compared to Karmine Corp's record of literally winning four EMEA Masters tournaments in total. Let's see if both can hold a new record next year.
