KT Rolster won the BO1 against Movistar KOI
Worlds 2025 kicked off on October 14 with the Play-In stage, where T1 defeated Invictus Gaming 3-1. Right after, the Swiss Stage draw took place, and since both teams were in the second pool, Movistar KOI and KT Rolster ended up facing each other. Movistar KOI’s assistant coach Quentin "Zeph" Viguié quickly revealed in a tweet that the scrim initially scheduled between the two teams was ultimately canceled.
In the picture, players from both teams can be seen joking around in the lobby chat. Joseph Joon "Jojopyun" Pyun appears disappointed that the scrim was canceled, though it’s unclear which team made the call — or if both agreed to it, which would make sense, as neither side would want to reveal their strategies ahead of facing each other the next day.
KT Rolster came out on top
As expected, the BO was taken by the LCK’s third seed. It was a close match, with KOI even holding a 3k gold lead at one point. David "Supa" Martínez García found a solo kill on Seo "deokdam" Dae-gil, and Javier "Elyoya" Prades managed to steal the Atakhan, but it simply wasn’t enough for Europe’s second seed. Deokdam’s Caitlyn eventually hit her scaling peak, and Gwak "Bdd" Bo-seong delivered an almost flawless performance on Orianna, finishing 9/0/9 with over 80% kill participation. The midlaner continues his strong form from the summer split and starts off his Worlds campaign in style.
Sharing information about scrims has become increasingly common in the League of Legends esports scene. Romain Bigeard, General Manager of G2 Esports, has even made it a habit to do so at the end of each split. Earlier this year, it also made quite a noise when Los Ratones began streaming their scrims — something FlyQuest later followed suit on. Fans widely appreciated the move, as it helped strengthen the connection between teams and their supporters.
