Chovy was named Player of the Match eleven times during this LCK split
They did it — Gen.G have completed the perfect split for the first time in the organization's history. They won all 18 best-of-threes in the regular season, going 36-5 in games, and become the second team in LCK history to achieve this feat after T1 in Spring 2022, they comfortably defeated OKSavingsBank BRION to close out a perfect regular season.
In the first series of the day, KT Rolster secured a win against DRX to keep their hopes for fifth place alive. Their fate now depends on the result of Dplus KIA vs Nongshim RedForce, set to be played on Sunday. A DK loss would hand KT the fifth spot. A 2-0 win for DK would secure it for them, while a 2-1 victory would lead to a BO3 tiebreaker between the two teams.
A fifth-place hanging in the balance
This win against DRX was absolutely crucial for KT, and they got the job done with authority. The series started with a dominant Game 1 led by Gwak "Bdd" Bo-seong on Taliyah, who nearly secured a Pentakill—denied only by the enemy support respawning before he could claim the fifth kill. DRX struggled to find footing and never looked in control as KT cruised through the opener.
Game 2 was a much slower burn, with both teams trading blows and no clear advantage for most of the match. But once again, the current meta pick Senna in the AD Carry role made the difference. Seo "deokdam" Dae-gil put on a stellar performance, dishing out over 30,000 damage in 32 minutes. KT secured the win and, with it, kept their dreams of a fifth-place finish alive.
The best team in the world
After their win over KT the other day, nothing was going to stop them—and it certainly wasn't BRION who would break the dream today. Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon locked in the first midlane Sett in over two years for Game 1, and after a skirmish around the Herald, Gen.G took control and never looked back.
Game 2 was another classic Gen.G stomp. They’re simply the best team in the world right now, and the 18-0 record proves it, they're dominating the strongest league in the world with ease.
On the final day of the LCK regular season, Hanwha Life Esports will face BNK FearX in a match with little on the line for either team. All eyes will be on the second best-of-three, which carries huge stakes: as mentioned earlier, Dplus KIA will be playing for their Summer Split hopes in a do-or-die showdown against Nongshim RedForce.
