Gen.G break the KT Rolster curse and are now one BO3 away from completing the perfect split
Gen.G had a scare against KT Rolster but managed to close out the series 2-1, keeping their win streak and undefeated record alive in the LCK. Now 17-0, they’re just one BO3 away from completing the perfect split, with their final match scheduled for Saturday morning against OKSavingsBank BRION. Earlier in the day, DRX picked up a win of their own against BRION, fielding academy midlaner Kang "kyeahoo" Ye-hoo in place of Son "Ucal" Woo-hyeon.
A quick look at today’s standings: Gen.G remain firmly in first place and continue their quest for the perfect run. KT Rolster, currently in fifth, are still battling to secure that final Legend Group spot for the Summer Split. Meanwhile, both DRX and BRION sit at 5-12, holding 9th and 8th place respectively in the LCK.
LazyFeel settles into the LCK
It’s now been a few weeks since Trần "LazyFeel" Bảo Minh became DRX’s starting AD Carry, and at just 18 years old, the Vietnamese botlaner has claimed his first-ever MVP in the LCK. In what was a low-stakes BO3 between two lower-ranked teams, DRX took the chance to rotate their roster — and it worked out. Game 1 went smoothly, with LazyFeel shining as he dismantled BRO’s defense, well protected by Lee "Rich" Jae-won’s unkillable Sion, who finished the match 2/0/11.
Game 2 was once again dominated by DRX, but a long pause disrupted the flow, and despite being down over 4k gold, BRO managed to even the score. In the deciding game, DRX’s composition centered around scaling paid off, with Senna proving strong on the current patch. Rich wasn’t done yet, this time locking in Ambessa and finishing top in damage — a strong showing from the veteran as DRX closed out the series.
GenG avoid "KTstrophe"
What a close call between Gen.G and KT Rolster. The LCK leaders came out swinging in Game 1, with Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon delivering a pixel-perfect performance on Ahri and Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu being absolutely everywhere on Xin Zhao. Gen.G looked determined to finally break the curse that has long loomed over their matchups against KT. The execution was clean, the map control precise — everything was going according to plan for the undefeated squad as they took the opening game in dominant fashion.
But KT weren’t going down without a fight. In Game 2, they reminded everyone why they were riding a six-series win streak. Jeong "Peter" Yoon-su continues to adapt impressively to the pace and pressure of the LCK, proving to be a solid and reliable support. Gwak "Bdd" Bo-seong remains the team’s core, while Moon "Cuzz" Woo-chan was everywhere on the map, supporting his teammates and hitting the monumental milestone of 4,000 LCK career assists during the game. KT stepped up in every lane and evened the score, forcing a decisive Game 3.
That final game started with KT striking first — an early catch on Chovy gave Cuzz the first blood and burned the flash of the Gen.G midlaner. Canyon managed to steal the first drake, but KT punished shortly after and kept up the pressure. Still, with a scaling Viktor in Chovy’s hands, Gen.G stayed in the game. The turning point came when KT, without most of their summoners and ultimates, tried to rush Baron. Gen.G punished hard, capitalizing on the mistake, and from there, Canyon proved once again why he’s the best smiter in the world, winning every 50/50. Gen.G remain undefeated at 17-0, now just one BO3 away from completing the perfect split — it all comes down to Saturday.
For Day 3 of the week, Nongshim RedForce will look to secure fifth place — but it won’t be an easy task as they face off against T1. Later in the day, Dplus KIA will have what should be a more manageable matchup against the DN Freecs, giving them a chance to maintain pressure in the race for fifth. With both teams neck and neck, that final spot in the Legend Group could very well be decided on the last day of the split, when NS and DK go head-to-head.
