SunPayus" García is set to join FUT Esports, sources tell
Sheep Esports, after three months on the G2 Esports bench.
HLTV had already reported that the Spanish AWPer was close to signing with the organization on September 16, a move that has now materialized. SunPayus is therefore expected to replace Nikita "
cmtry" Samolotov in the role, more than a year after the latter joined.
After entering
Counter-Strike 2 in May 2025 with a French project, FUT quickly changed direction by signing a large part of the former NAVI Junior roster, including cmtry, who therefore spent a year playing together under the Turkish organization. For the fifth spot, the position is currently occupied by Yasin "
xfl0ud" Koç, the roster's only Turkish player, who joined in July from Heroic. This means it will be the first time the four-man core has changed, with a more experienced player coming in.
More experience for FUT
Entering Tier 1 in 2021 after joining Movistar Riders, the AWPer played his first Major with the Spanish club while also starting to appear at his first IEM and ESL Pro League events. He would eventually attend another Major at Rio 2022 with ENCE, where he and the Finnish organization came within one series of reaching the playoffs. A feat he would not achieve with the organization at the following Major, Paris 2023, the last one in CS:GO, but ENCE would go on to lift a trophy shortly after at IEM Dallas, the first S-Tier title of his career.
The following year, he was picked up by Team Falcons, in what was the Saudi club's first real Tier 1 project in CS. With the team, the Spanish player failed to truly perform, posting results below expectations throughout 2024, with the end of his contract leading him to Heroic shortly after. SunPayus would return to success in 2025 and, for the first time in his career, qualify for both Majors of the Year, with BLAST Austin alongside Heroic and StarLadder Budapest with G2 Esports. On top of that, he would claim a second S-Tier title at BLAST Fall, winning the tournament with the German club he joined midway through the season after defeating Team Vitality in the grand final, a team that had been in outstanding form that season.
Ultimately, 2026 was somewhat more mixed but was marked by a title at Stake Ranked Episode 1 and, most notably, a top 5-8 finish at the Cologne Major, his last tournament to date and, therefore, apparently, his final run with G2 Esports before joining FUT, according to Sheep Esports' information.
