Sheep Esports Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how SHEEP ESPORTS SRL uses personal data when you use Sheep Esports services and platforms, including our website. It covers visitors, guest users and people with an account. SHEEP ESPORTS SRL is responsible for the processing described here.
For privacy questions and requests, contact [email protected]. Our Terms of Service remain a separate document.
Want to delete your account? Follow the account deletion instructions. You can use the website or contact us by email.
Data we use
- Account details: your email address, display name, internal account identifier and sign-in details. If you sign in through Google, Apple or X, we receive the account information that provider shares, which can include a name, email address, profile picture and provider identifier. Firebase Authentication manages password-based sign-in; we do not receive your social account password.
- Preferences: saved articles, interests, followed teams, players and leagues, newsletter choices and display settings. These let us remember your choices and personalise content and alerts.
- Contributions: comments, replies and reactions, together with their dates, associated content and moderation information. Comments and display names are visible to other readers. Guest comments and reactions use an identifier derived from your IP address and browser information to limit duplicate reactions and abuse.
- Device and notification details, depending on the platform and features you use: an installation identifier, guest or account identifier, push notification token, platform, software version, language, time zone, notification settings, followed content and registration or activity dates. Following a live match also uses the match identifier and delivery details needed to send updates to that device.
- Usage and technical information: page visits, interactions, referral information, browser or device information, IP addresses and error information processed by our hosting, analytics and advertising services. On the website, Rybbit can associate usage with your internal account identifier when you are signed in.
- Correspondence: the name, email address, subject and message you provide when contacting us, and information needed to respond.
Why we use data
We use account and preference data to provide the features you request, keep you signed in, save your choices and manage your account. We use contributions and related identifiers to publish discussions, count reactions and moderate abuse. Device and notification details let us deliver the alerts and live match updates you choose.
Newsletter preferences and your email address let us send the newsletters you select. We use correspondence to answer enquiries and handle privacy requests. Usage and technical information helps us understand readership, diagnose errors, secure our services and serve advertising on the website.
Service providers
The services involved depend on the features and platform you use. They include:
- Google Firebase for authentication, account and device data in Firestore, and push notification delivery through Firebase Cloud Messaging. Apple also handles delivery to Apple devices.
- Google, Apple and X when you choose their sign-in services.
- Google Analytics and Rybbit for website usage measurement, and Google Ad Manager for advertising on the website.
- SMTP2GO for newsletter and contact-form email delivery.
- Vercel for website hosting and queued email processing, Cloudflare for content delivery, and Sanity for editorial content and media. Loading content involves requests to the services delivering it.
- Third-party media providers, such as X and YouTube, when you load their embedded content or follow their links. They receive the requests made by your browser and apply their own privacy policies.
Providers may process data outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Contact us for information about the providers, processing locations and transfer safeguards applicable to your data.
Data retention
- Account details and saved preferences remain while you have an account. They are removed or cleared during successful account deletion as described below.
- Comments, reactions and the minimal profile associated with retained comments have no automatic expiry. Removing an account does not automatically remove those contributions.
- Linked device records are removed during account deletion. Turning off notifications stops alerts; it does not itself erase the device record.
- Browser and device data remains until it expires, is replaced or is cleared through your browser, device or service settings. The preference cookie periods are described above.
Correspondence, delivery records, technical logs, analytics and any backup copies are held separately from your account. Account deletion does not automatically erase these records. Their retention depends on the service concerned and any applicable legal requirements. Contact [email protected] for the periods applicable to your data or to request its erasure.
Account deletion
You can delete your Sheep Esports account from a browser or request deletion by email. Stopping use of our services or clearing local data does not delete your account.
Delete your account on the website
- Sign in to Sheep Esports with the account you want to delete, using the email address or sign-in provider associated with that account.
- Open your profile settings and find the Delete account section.
- Enter DELETE, confirm your password or sign in again with your provider when prompted, then confirm deletion.
Request deletion by email
If you cannot sign in, or prefer to contact us, email [email protected] with the subject "Sheep Esports account deletion". Include the email address or sign-in provider associated with your account. If possible, write from that email address. We may ask for information needed to verify that the account belongs to you. Never send your password.
What is deleted and what remains
- On successful deletion, your Sheep Esports sign-in account is removed. Your profile name and saved preferences are cleared, including saved articles, interests and followed teams, players and leagues. Newsletter subscriptions are disabled and the device records linked to your account are deleted.
- Your comments remain published under "Deleted user". A minimal profile record with the original internal account identifier remains so those comments still have an author. There is no automatic expiry for these retained comments or the minimal profile record. Personal information you wrote in a comment is not automatically removed from its text. Contact us with a link to request its removal.
- Guest comments and reactions are separate from your account and are not removed by account deletion. Past correspondence, email delivery records and analytics records are also outside this automatic deletion process. You can contact us to request erasure of other personal data, subject to applicable legal exceptions.
- Deleting your Sheep Esports account does not delete your Google, Apple or X account. Using our services again as a guest can create a new device record.
Our services process account deletion during the confirmed deletion request. Wait for the success confirmation; an error message means deletion may not have completed. For requests made by email, see the response times and your rights below.
Your rights and choices
Where applicable under data protection law, you can request access to your personal data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing or a portable copy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent for processing based on consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
You can change your profile and newsletter preferences in your profile settings. You can adjust notification choices in the settings of the service you use, where available, or disable notifications in your device settings. For other requests, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Under the GDPR, you are entitled to a response without undue delay and normally within one month of your request. For complex or numerous requests, this can be extended by up to two further months, with an explanation within the first month. These response times are not a blanket retention period for all records.
You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Information about these rights is available from the European Data Protection Board.
