Why fourth place from CBLOL instead of third?
RED Canids' qualification for the Demacia Cup comes with a particular circumstance. Although the tournament would normally be expected to receive the CBLOL's third-place team, a scheduling conflict prevents the third-place finisher from participating.
As a result, CBLOL will send its fourth-place team instead, giving RED Canids the opportunity to represent Brazil in the Demacia Cup.
The decision creates an unusual situation for the Brazilian league, because RED will continue its season with an international tournament despite finishing below the team that will take third place in the CBLOL. Meanwhile, the third-place finisher will not receive a spot in any other international tournment due to the schedule conflict.
What is the Demacia Cup?
The Demacia Cup is a Chinese League of Legends tournament that traditionally brings together teams from China's professional ecosystem. The 2026 edition, Demacia Cup Global Invitational, however, will feature an international component, with teams from different regions competing for the first time in the Demacia Cup Global Invitational.
For RED, the competition could provide the chance to gain experience against different playstyles and prepare for the following season. The tournament will take place in October, meaning RED will return to competition shortly after its last series.
FURIA still has chance to play Worlds
While RED's season continues through the Demacia Cup, FURIA's CBLOL run carries much higher stakes. By defeating RED in the 3-2 series, FURIA advanced in the competition on the Lower Bracket and kept its hopes of reaching the 2026 World Championship alive.
