The 2027
League of Legends Championship Series (
LCS) is complete!
and
were the protagonists of an extremely unpredictable 2027 LCS Promotion Tournament.
At a LAN final in Mexico City, as last year, Disguised defended its LCS Guest Slot dominantly,
dispatching the collegiate side 3-0 despite coming from the Losers Bracket.
The current collegiate champion reached the final confidently after previously facing and beating DSG in Round 1. However, the Saints couldn’t overcome a superb finals performance from Oh “
" Ji-hoon and Pedro Luis “
"
Peralta. Maryville University was one best-of-five away from
becoming the first collegiate program to reach the LCS.
Disguised began the season with a string of positive results at LCS Lock-In despite starting jungler Christian “
” Rahaian missing the first two weeks. After being eliminated from the playoffs, DSG slowly declined. The team lost Cho “
" Hyeon-seong and only won three series in Spring and Summer, two against Dignitas, a team that went out on a 14-series losing streak.
Before the final, several concerned fans thought DSG might fail to defend its slot. This victory helps Disguised finish the 2026 campaign on a positive note, despite another complicated year. Regardless of the year's results, the LCS Guest Slot team had to defend its slot in this tournament. All members of the 2026 roster have contracts expiring on
November 16th, so it’s unclear which direction the team will go in 2027 after trying a rookie roster. Will we see Jett “
" Joye and Sajed “
" Ziade back in 2027?
The 2027 LCS Promotion Tournament and several other Tier 2 tournaments played alongside it have made one thing clear: North America is full of talent. Ganbat “
" Ulziidelger proved time and time again that he is LCS-ready. Chris “
" Feng was a
standout at the World Star Challengers Invitational.
Even players away from North America are knocking on the LCS General Managers’ door. Victor Alexander “
" Chea and Johnny “
" Dang are two prospects who’ve given EU a run for its money. Will the next wave of North American talent debut in the 2027 LCS season?
