CGN Esports is enduring a turbulent summer. Two weeks ago, jungler
Muhammed "Agurin" Kocak was suspended for one match due to toxic behavior in Solo Queue. The decision had no impact on
the reigning Prime League champions, as the streamer was grinding the ladder in North America at the time and had already been temporarily replaced by Thomas "Kirei" Yuen for the early weeks of the German leagueâs Summer Split. But this Tuesday, the team was once again directly called out by the leagueâs organizers for failing, for the fourth time in five matches, to submit its starting line-up ahead of a scheduled fixture.
âCGN has once again failed to enter the correct line-up by the roster entry deadline,â the league explained in a video posted on Twitter. âThis was also the case today for the match against the Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition. Entered were: Sendoo (Rosendo Fuentes), Typhoon (Tayfun GĂŒmĂŒĆ), Agurin, Reptile (Jona Fritz) and Lucky (Luca Santos). One of these players did not show up. Since the registered line-up could not compete, the Unicorns receive a 2:0 default win. In the current split, four out of five games were missed in terms of line-up selection.â
Further measures might be taken
The organizers emphasized that they had initially overlooked the infractions for the first two matches. However, CGN was penalized for the last two games, resulting in forfeits last week against Eintracht Spandau and this week against USE. âWe expect CGN to follow the rules like any other team and to bear the consequences if they break the rules,â the Prime League stated. âWe are currently very disappointed about the behavior of CGN and their current performance in our league and we cannot continue to be accommodating, also out of fairness to the other teams.â
The league also indicated that further measures might be taken: âWe therefore feel compelled to examine further possible steps and will then communicate these transparently with you.â It is worth noting that the Summer Split holds little actual significance for CGN. Thanks to their victory in the Spring Split, the team is already qualified for the season finals, which will determine the EMEA Masters German representatives. CGN currently stands at 1â4 in the Summer Split â a five-round Swiss Stage. Agurinâs team shares last place with Eintracht Spandau... whose sole victory was therefore awarded by default against CGN.
