The Professor has returned, and it’s time for class. After more than a year of absence,
has returned to the spotlight, though it seems his plans for an
esports career may very well be behind him. Having launched his
first stream in more than a year on October 8, the former professional support shed some light on his time away from the game, as well as what he sees as his future.
Enjoying the family life
While he may have shaped European
League of Legends history, the Bulgarian player seems to have settled into a much cozier and slower-paced life.
“My break was great. I played a lot of World of Warcraft as well as other games. I became a father, and now I’m taking my driver’s license. Life is a bit easier,” he said on his stream while responding to a viewer who jokingly asked him to save
.
For a player who spent years travelling across Europe and competing at the highest level, Hylissang’s life now seems considerably more relaxed. Away from the pressure of the LEC, he has had the opportunity to spend time with his family, play games simply for fun, and focus on things that had taken a back seat during his professional career.
Indeed, it seems like the glory days of the Professor may be things to leave in the past, along with his competitive career. When talking about what he was planning to do now, he continued: “I’m planning to stream a lot more. Let’s see how streaming goes. That’s the plan for now.”
A career left behind?
Truth be told, while many European fans will fondly remember Hylissang for his explosive playstyle, he has not actively played
League of Legends in a long time, and his level towards the end of his tenure on
was unfortunately far from his peak. In March 2025, despite having been defended by his coaches previously, the former LEC champion was
benched by his team and subsequently replaced by
, a move which seemed quite puzzling at the time.
Since then, Hylissang has remained away from competitive play, with his latest comments offering little indication that a return is currently on his mind. Instead, streaming appears to be the natural next step for the veteran support, allowing him to remain connected to the game without the demands that came with competing professionally.
When discussing
his absence from this year’s
Esports Nations Cup qualifiers with the Bulgarian delegation, he also commented on his stream:
“I think I was too bad to join, to be honest. I did get offered a spot, but I was in between a lot of things in real life, so I decided it was better for somebody else to represent Bulgaria.”After all, with a Worlds final appearance, as well as three European titles under his belt, perhaps it is finally time for Hylissang to truly take a break and focus on returning to his roots, enjoying the game and seeing where it leads him.
