LoL – NLC: Los Ratones crush DMG Esports with Caedrel at support and Rekkles as ADC

In the end, it was a walk in the park for the Rats. On Wednesday, Marc “Caedrel” Lamont returned to the competitive stage five years after his last official match, taking part in Los Ratones’ NLC Summer Split fixture against DMG Esports. The British streamer—originally a midlaner who later transitioned to jungle during the latter part of his career—took to the Rift as a support for the first time in an official game. He stepped in for Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, who was momentarily reassigned to his former role as AD Carry. Completing the role swap, regular botlaner Juš "Crownie" Marušič filled in for Caedrel as Coach.

While these lineup changes might have given DMG more optimism—especially after suffering back-to-back 0–2 losses to Los Ratones in the opening rounds of the Upper Bracket during previous splits—such hopes quickly dissipated. The game turned into a one-sided affair, with Veljko "Velja" Čamdžić dominating the early stages. LR had already built a nearly 2,000 gold lead by the 15-minute mark and decisively broke the game open around minute 17 with a triple kill in the opposing jungle. The economic gap widened to over 6,000 gold by minute 18, and the match concluded just minutes later with a final gold difference of 17.7k after 27 minutes of play.

On Braum, Caedrel delivered a composed and effective performance in his support debut—a role he had practiced in scrims before Rekkles arrived at the club. Former Challenger and now Diamond 4 in SoloQ, Caedrel finished the game with a 78.5% kill participation and a 1/1/17 KDA. He is now just 4,999 kills shy of joining Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok in the exclusive club of players to have recorded 5,000 kills under a single banner. Rekkles also marked his return to the AD Carry role with a clean showing on Senna. The Swedish legend remained deathless, closing out the match with a flawless 6/0/13 scoreline.

A few hours later, Los Ratones were back on stage for their second match of the day, this time against Verdant. With everyone returning to their standard roles, LR were pushed to their limits. The team took over 54 minutes to overcome Chres "Sencux" Laursen and his teammates. Los Ratones had to defend against a Dragon Soul and three Barons Nashor—one of which was paired with an Elder Drake. The back-to-back NLC champions finally broke through after securing the second Elder of the game. On his signature Sion, Simon "Thebausffs" Hofverberg stayed true to his style, ending the match with a score of 0/6/9. “Today I got 11,585 HP in a competitive match. World record,” the toplaner proudly posted on X.

With these two wins, Los Ratones now stand at 33 victories from 36 games this season. Having already claimed both EMEA Masters titles this year, the team has suffered just one defeat in NLC competition since January. Currently sitting atop Group A, LR will have a chance to extend their remarkable run during the Summer Split playoffs. They will learn the identity of their next opponent once Group B wraps up on Thursday evening.
