According to sources,
Team Heretics have applied to enter
Rocket League Esports for the
RLCS Club Championship in November. The Spanish organization, which has over a million followers on
twitter, is expected to field a roster from Europe and has been in talks with players already. While the current RLCS partnership program contains 21 teams, multiple organizations from outside the scene are eyeing up a spot at the Club Championship as one of the 20 invited organizations. It will be the first time Team Heretics have ever competed in Rocket League, the organization fields multiple international lineups in other esports but tends to have a Spanish focus.
Team Heretics has grown rapidly to become one of Spain’s leading esports organizations. It fields competitive rosters in both of Riot Games’ esports titles Valorant and League of Legends, having acquired a franchise slot in League of Legends in 2022. The organization also fields rosters in Rainbow Six Siege, Marvel Rivals, and in Call of Duty where it shares ownership of the Miami Heretics. The organization is co-owned by David “TheGrefg” Martínez, one of the largest Youtubers in Spain with almost 20 million subscribers on the platform. The Spaniard has a familiarity with Epic Games having built a large portion of his audience in Fortnite. Team Heretics also invested in the game for six years, before departing in 2024.
The organization did take an interest in the esport earlier this year, when the [REDACTED] roster of Jayden "
2Piece" Horton, Cohen "
Tawk" Hawco, and Dylan "
Wahvey" Thanus was on the market after a strong Split 1. However, the organization chose not to pursue a deal with the team, who eventually signed for Virtus.pro ahead of the Boston Major. This time the organization is expected to focus on the European market, which is currently at a stand still with
multiple organizations pursuing the same team. Team Heretics have applied to field a European roster in the partners program, but there is no guarantee yet the organization will be accepted by Psyonix and Epic Games.
