Riot still fighting smurfing and boosting
Riot is making competitive integrity and player clarity the focus of the VALORANT Patch 11.09. Rolling out across all platforms, this update introduces multi-factor authentication requirements for flagged shared accounts in Competitive, expands enforcement against smurfing/boosting and botting, streamlines how you interact with in-world objects, and ships a hefty batch of map and Agent fixes.
Competitive Updates (All Platforms)
- MFA Gate for Flagged Shared Accounts: Starting in 11.09, accounts detected for sharing in NA, LATAM, BR, and KR must enable Riot Mobile MFA to queue Competitive. Other modes unaffected.
- Report Smurfing as “Rank Manipulation”: Player reports continue to power detection improvements.
- Ascendant+ Reminder: In an upcoming patch, all Ascendant and above in the above regions will be required to add Riot Mobile MFA.
Anti-Abuse & Fair Play
- Botting: Riot continues to monitor and improve detection; many accounts have been banned.
- Smurfing/Boosting: Purchased accounts detected boosting will be banned beginning this patch.
Gameplay Systems - Interactive Object QoL
- Unified Highlighting: Switches, Ropes, Ziplines, and Ultimate Orbs now use the standard green highlight for interactables.
- Smarter Prioritization: Your aim can now prioritize the highlighted action when multiple interactions overlap (e.g., stuck in Deadlock GravNet near a Rope), letting you do what you intended first.
