Marty helped lead ZennIT to back-to-back EMEA Masters playoff appearances this season
It marks a natural next step in the career of Martin “Marty” Dimitrov. According to sources close to Sheep Esports, the Bulgarian midlaner—who secured both splits of the current Road of Legends season with ZennIT—is set to be promoted to a major ERL this summer. Marty has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Superliga team Veni Vidi Vici. He departs the Road of Legends after establishing himself as one of the standout performers in the league and arrives in Spain with the status of a rising prospect. Versatile and adaptable to shifting metas, Marty has consistently ranked among the top statistical performers across all ERLs since the beginning of the year.
His exit from the Benelux league—where he had been competing since 2023—had been anticipated following his announcement on May 26 that he had been granted permission to explore other opportunities, just ahead of the EMEA Masters Spring. At 18, Marty was one of the youngest players in the tournament and made a strong impression, holding his own against top-tier teams such as Geekay Esports and Barça eSports.
A Shift in Profile at VVV
Even during the winter edition of the EMEA Masters, Marty showed no hesitation in facing heavyweight teams like Los Heretics and Karmine Corp Blue. He was a key contributor to ZennIT’s surprise run, which saw the team reach the playoffs in both editions of the competition.
At VVV, Marty is set to replace Ismael “Miniduke” Cortés, whose departure was announced on May 28. This represents a significant shift in profile for the team’s midlane, as they move from a seasoned veteran to an emerging rookie eager to prove himself on a larger stage. Veni Vidi Vici had identified the need for change following a disappointing Spring Split. After a promising third-place finish in Winter, the newly promoted team managed to remain competitive during the Spring Group Stage. However, they faltered in the Swiss Stage, suffering defeats to both Los Heretics and Barça, and ultimately failed to reach playoffs.
