Despite a title in Winter, Sajator is removed from the roster after a disappointing Spring
After just two splits with Los Heretics in the SuperLiga, Czech midlaner Jan “Sajator” Zítek has been benched and is now out of the roster, announced the team on Monday. The move ends a relatively short stint that began with high expectations and regional prestige, following Sajator’s transfer from Barça eSports at the end of 2024. There is no information yet on his future potential destination, nor his future replacement for Summer Split.
Sajator had joined Heretics as a proven domestic talent and a valuable LTR (Locally-Trained Representative) under Riot’s ERL residency rules—a factor that weighed heavily in roster building. His arrival followed a dramatic Summer 2024, where he had faced Heretics in back-to-back best-of-fives while under Barça, including a hard-fought Grand Final that ended in a 0–3 loss. Despite joining a team fresh off back-to-back SuperLiga titles and a top-four EMEA Masters run, Heretics’ 2025 form fell short of sustaining that high standard.
A peak reached too early this year
Sajator’s time with Heretics had a strong start. He was a central figure in the team’s 2025 Winter Split title run, helping secure Heretics’ third consecutive domestic trophy. But after that early highlight, results failed to follow. Heretics fell short at EMEA Masters in both Winter and Spring, and domestically, their Spring Split ended in disappointment as they were outclassed by... Barça eSports, Sajator's former team. With Heretics now reevaluating its ERL strategy, Sajator enters the offseason as a free agent once again.
Despite an underwhelming Spring Split, the midlaner is still regarded as a reliable presence in his role within the ERL circuit. Before making the move to Spain, he had already made a name for himself in his home country, the Czech Republic. Representing eSuba, he claimed three consecutive titles in the Hitpoint Masters between 2021 and 2022.
