"We’ll have to see where I end up next year, but I absolutely don’t regret my choice to join Heretics"
After a crushing defeat to SK Gaming, Team Heretics now faces the threat of elimination from the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) Summer Season. While playoffs are still within reach, the team can no longer afford any missteps, with each remaining match carrying the risk of elimination. In an exclusive interview, midlaner Kamil “Kamiloo” Haudegond spoke with Sheep Esports about the reasons behind the loss, the LEC format, and his personal growth in 2025.
What do you think led to your defeat against SK today?
Kamil “Kamiloo” Haudegond: "Overall, we didn’t have good teamfights, and in the third game, for example, we didn’t play side lanes very well. There were quite a few mistakes, and SK knew how to take advantage of them.
It felt like both teams were playing very cautiously, almost afraid of making mistakes. Did you feel any stress after game 1, given how important this match was for playoffs?
Kamiloo: Honestly, I didn’t feel stressed at all during the games. Even after game 1, which we lost, I felt in control of what I was doing and thought I played pretty well. In game 2, after my solo kill in toplane, I was actually very confident. Scaling suited me perfectly because, little by little, I was regaining resources and gradually taking the lead. I didn’t feel like I was playing with stress. Overall, I’m pretty happy with my performance across the BO, except for the last game, where, once we got outscaled, I tried more things because I thought we had to. Even if it didn’t work out perfectly, I feel like I played a good BO, and that’s already a win for me.
How would you assess your level this Summer Split so far, especially compared to the Spring Split?
Kamiloo: I know I didn’t play well against Fnatic, and my performance against G2 wasn’t up to par either. But for me, that’s not the most important thing. What really matters is what’s coming next: qualifying for playoffs and climbing the loser bracket. After losing to SK, the match against BDS will be decisive, but we can still make it.
After a difficult first split and a Spring Split where you showed improvement, this Summer is starting poorly. Does this reflect the team’s level, or is it more due to the format?
Kamiloo: It’s mostly due to the format honestly. We didn’t have our best games, and since we play so few matches, it can quickly give a bad impression. Against Fnatic, even though we lost, we showed good things. Against G2, our performances were bad. Against SK, it was mixed. So I’d say the format really limits what a team can actually show.
What will you need to do against BDS next week to force at least a tiebreaker, especially given that momentum is hard to regain right now?
Kamiloo: There’s no secret — we just need to play well. I don’t have a miracle recipe. We’ll need to be at our best on the day, and it will either work… or it won’t.
How’s the team atmosphere in general? Have recent defeats affected your mentality?
Kamiloo: After the match against G2, we made changes in the way we work, but it was positive. These changes had more benefits than drawbacks. The most important thing is to keep working day by day and improving our weekly objectives. If we progress steadily on what we set out to improve, we’ll become strong. And if one day we’re not strong enough for the big day, so be it. But we continue this cycle of improvement until we’re ready.

When did you resume training before the split? How were the scrims, and is it surprising to find yourselves in this situation?
Kamiloo: I think we started around July 14 or 15. Our scrims went pretty well. Honestly, the problem doesn’t come from our scrim opponents. We had a proper preparation.
How do you see 2025 for you, even though it’s not over yet? Do you consider it a positive year for your career?
Kamiloo: This year has taught me a lot. In terms of knowledge and maturity, I’ve grown from a kid into an adult. I’ve learned a huge amount about the game with the team. Honestly, I see this year as a pivotal one for my career. Of course, we’ll have to see where I end up next year, but I absolutely don’t regret my choice to join Heretics."
