Shopify Rebellion fought hard today, coming out on top to show 100 Thieves—and everyone else watching—that they deserved their spot in the LTAN bracket.
Vying for a chance at making a lower-bracket run, 100 Thieves and Shopify Rebellion came in to fight for their lives today. While Game 1 was even, just barely a coin flip away from either team winning, each game remaining in the the series became more one-sided than the last.
Game 1
The early game was more chaotic than what we saw yesterday, with an early Flash + Q giving Bill "Eyla" Nguyen First Blood. A 3v3 broke out in the botside river, and Shopify Rebellion came out on top. Two kills went to 100 Thieves, but three kills, the Feat of Warfare, and the first Drake went to SR. The game’s first 5v5 happened just ten minutes into the game, with the Void Grubs going to Juan "Contractz" Garcia, while two kills went to 100T.
Despite their best efforts, 100 Thieves was unable to interrupt Shopify Rebellion’s gambit for Rift Herald. Even though they lost the objective, 100T took 3 kills, which put them up to a 2.5k gold lead. SR took the Feats of Strength with Rift Herald, but lost out on the second Dragon of the game. Dropping Herald topside, SR was able to cut the gold lead in half, before losing their own turret along with that progress.
100 Thieves started on what would be their second Dragon of the game, but Shopify Rebellion decided to opt for Atakhan. 100T tried to stop it, but showed up just a bit too late. With a perfect Realm Warp from Cristian "Palafox" Palafox, SR got out cleanly. After losing Atakhan, 100T went for Drake once again.
The fighting didn’t stop, as everyone showed up midlane, with a kill going over to Ju "Bvoy" Yeong-hoon. The teams traded kills after 100 Thieves faked Baron, two for one favoring 100T. Both teams postured at Drake, with the objective going over to Contractz, but Victor "FBI" Huang got a huge triple kill as the dust settled. In a risky call, 100T chose to take Baron with just their ADC and jungler.
Another fight broke out in Shopify Rebellion’s jungle. Two kills went to SR, and one went to 100 Thieves. Poke was traded, but Denilson "Ceos" Oliveira got taken out, along with Contractz, following a daring dive straight into 100T’s frontline. Baron went to 100T without contest.
A cheeky Realm Warp from Palafox set up Shopify once again, taking out both of 100 Thieves’ botlaners and Lim "Quid" Hyeon-sung as they tried sieging the SR base. As everyone respawned, SR managed to claim Cloud Soul. Moments later, an insane 5v5 mid took place. Ceos fell to Quid as FBI’s Guardian Angel popped. Bvoy got a triple kill as Eyla took down Palafox, but 100 Thieves stayed calm and pulled the close fight back in their favor thanks to some insane damage from River.
100 Thieves took Baron and shoved through mid and top, but could not quite end it. Quid got picked off by Contractz, shortly followed by another catch-out onto FBI in mid lane. At the fight around the Elder Dragon, despite their huge gold lead, 100 Thieves went down one-by-one, leaving only Kim "River" Dong-woo and Quid to defend. With Bvoy’s scaled autos, 100T struggled to defend their base, ultimately losing to the scaling AD Carry. In a shocking turn of events, Shopify Rebellion won game one.
Game 2
First Blood went to Contractz following a sneaky level three gank, along with all three of the Void Grubs and Infernal Drake shortly after. The teams traded kills back and forth through the earlier levels before a fight broke out near Rift Herald.
With a teleport burned by each team, Shopify Rebellion was able to claim the Feat of Warfare and the Feat of Monster Slaying following the skirmish in the topside river. SR was able to keep their pressure up and keep 100 Thieves off of the Ocean Drake, while building a lead of now over 1000 gold.
A 5v5 broke out at Atakhan, but 100 Thieves was not able to successfully contest, losing both the objective and four of their team members in the process. As Mountain Drake came up, both of the teams tried to set up, but all members of 100 Thieves fell during the engagement.
Shopify Rebellion took a strong fight in mid while Ibrahim "Fudge" Allami's Yorick pushed top, breaking through a few of the few remaining defenses at 100 Thieves’ base and leaving only one Nexus Turret standing.
An all-in from 100 Thieves ended in just a two-for-three. Unfortunately for them, this gave Shopify Rebellion a free run for Baron, with their Soul spawning shortly thereafter. Fudge splitpushed topside with the buff, dying while his team took Mountain Soul.
Grouping as five and using frontline pressure to keep 100 Thieves at bay, Shopify Rebellion pushed their way to victory, putting them at match point.
Game 3
An early lane swap allowed 100 Thieves to get their first Drake—their first of the series—during the much calmer early game we saw this time around. Shopify Rebellion still took all three of the Void Grubs, making it easy for them to get the Feat of First Turret.
Bvoy and Ceos were able to get First Blood by ambushing an unsuspecting Rayan "Sniper" Shoura, playing his signature and thus-far-undefeated Riven. Without any contest, Shopify Rebellion secured the Chemtech Drake. SR’s gold lead reached almost 4k as they claimed Rift Herald, giving them the Feats of Strength.
A skirmish broke out at Drake, as each 100 Thieves member died but FBI, while only Bvoy died on Shopify. Another teamfight broke out at Atakhan, and 100T was not able to find their footing, losing two members and the objective.
Just under 23 minutes in, Shopify Rebellion broke open 100 Thieves’ base, taking down the tier three turret botside. 100T was able to cut the gold lead down a bit, thanks to a 1000 gold bounty on the Cloud Drake, but it just wasn’t enough.
Quid was able to get a great pick, taking down Bvoy before Baron, and FBI managed to bring down Contractz as well, but Palafox answered with an insane Viktor pentakill. Taking Baron, getting another ace, and running their buffed minions through mid, Shopify walked out of the arena victorious, 19-5 in an explosive third game to round out the sweep.
Result: Shopify Rebellion wins 3-0.
