Powered by another stellar Jojopyun performance, MKOI secures the third playoff spot
Fnatic and Movistar KOI closed out Week 6 of the LEC Spring Split regular season with convincing victories. They crushed Team Heretics and SK Gaming, respectively, with a 2-0 scoreline. With this result, Ibai Llanos's team has officially secured its spot in the playoffs. Only one weekend of matches remains, with three playoffs spots still up for grabs.
Despite a season marked by fluctuating performances and frequent upsets, a clear top four has emerged. Apart from G2 Esports, who have stumbled a few times, Fnatic, MKOI, and Karmine Corp are already logically qualified for the playoffs stage. These teams have proven to be the most consistent and capable of reaching a higher peak level of play than the rest of the league.
Three Spots, Three Days Left
That was evident again today, as the Black and Orange squad steamrolled Team Heretics — a team that could've qualified today. But that was without counting on Elias "Upset" Lipp, once again put in perfect conditions by his team to shine. The standout player in both sub-30-minute victories, he posted an impressive 16/0/9 KDA, firmly asserting himself as the star of the show. Now, Heretics will have to wait a bit longer and face increased pressure in their final match against GIANTX, who are also backed into a corner and need a win to have a shot at sixth place.

But all eyes will be on the four teams heading to the Evry Arena next weekend. These are the last teams with two matches left to play. Among them, three — G2, Team Vitality, and SK Gaming — are still fighting for a playoff spot. Each faces different challenges in the standings, but G2 appears to be the favorite to at least secure one win and qualify. However, Karmine Corp could play spoiler and influence the cruel fate of either of their weekend opponents, right in front of their home crowd.
It will be crucial to keep an eye on the standings at the end of each day, as the two matches on Day 1 could already determine the fate of some teams. If G2 beats SK, they’re through. If SK wins, all scenarios remain open. In the second match, Vitality will need a huge performance to take down the Blue Wall on home turf. If they succeed, they regain control of their playoffs destiny. Their fate will be decided live on stage this Saturday.
