Hype was unable to take part in today’s series due to being on loan from KT to BRION
It was a packed morning in LCK Round 1-2, with both best-of-threes going to the final game. Nongshim RedForce managed to overcome DRX in a closely contested series, led by Son "Lehends" Si-woo, who once again demonstrated his importance to the team with a good performance. The veteran support was awarded the MVP of the series, further cementing his role as a difference-maker for Nongshim.
The second match saw KT Rolster take a 2-1 win over OKSavingsBank BRION. BRION had to play without their usual AD Carry, Byeon "Hype" Jeong-hyeon, who was ineligible to compete against his parent team due to LCK loan rules. He was replaced by academy botlaner Song "Bull" Seon-gyu. On the KT side, Moon "Cuzz" Woo-chan once again stood out and claimed the MVP, continuing his strong form as the team extends its winning streak.
Nongshim hold on to fourth place
Nongshim pick up a second consecutive win and close out the week with a clean 2-0 record, claiming today’s victory against DRX. They kicked things off with a strong game one, led by Hwang "Kingen" Seong-hoon’s Jayce, while Lehends pulled out his Elise once again — a pick on which he's boasting nearly a 66% win rate, far above both the Korean and major region averages.
In game two, Lehends opted for Shen and got off to a great start — though he ended up securing almost all of his team’s early kills. Despite Nongshim holding a virtual gold lead, the imbalance in gold distribution made them vulnerable, and DRX capitalized to even the series. In the decisive game three, Kim "GIDEON" Min-seong’s Viego and Lehends’ Leona — a more traditional support pick — brought back structure to NS’s play. Jung "Jiwoo" Ji-woo dominated in lane and played a key role in securing the series win. Lehends once again affirmed his status as the team’s leader and a guiding presence for the younger players around him.
KT found the right rhythm
It’s a fourth consecutive win for KT, who are in great form right now. They currently sit sixth in the LCK, with a two-win lead over BNK FEARX, the team just below them in the standings — and every win counts in the race for playoffs. Once again, it was a strong series from Moon "Cuzz" Woo-chan that helped KT secure the victory: Wukong in Game 1, Viego in Game 2, and Trundle to close it out. Cuzz continues to be a rock for the team, helping KT recover from the rough patch they faced earlier in the split.
One particular play in Game 1 proved clutch for KT, as Cuzz stepped into a bush with Wukong and landed a three-man ultimate, turning the fight in their favor. Gwak "Bdd" Bo-seong also deserves credit, as he continues to deliver with the same impressive consistency he's shown since the start of the year.
Tomorrow, for the final day of Week 7 in LCK Round 1-2, Hanwha Life Esports will look to bounce back from their recent loss to KT, which shouldn’t be too difficult as they face DN Freecs. Then comes probably the most anticipated match, with Gen.G taking on T1. The reigning world champions will try to topple Gen.G, who remain undefeated this split.
