Both midlaners, Bdd and Calix, were named MVPs of their series
The penultimate week of the LCK Round 1-2 comes to a close with wins for Nongshim RedForce and KT Rolster, who secure their spots in the Road to MSI by defeating OKSavingsbank BRION and BNK FEARX. With these results, the six teams qualified for the LCK Playoffs are now locked in: Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, T1, NS, KT and Dplus KIA.
Next week’s matches will determine the final seeding going into the Playoffs. Gen.G are already locked in for first place, while HLE’s second-place spot is under threat from T1 — especially since the two teams are set to face each other. As for today’s games, it was all about the midlaners: Gwak "Bdd" Bo-seong and Syun "Calix" Hyun-bin both picked up MVP honors for their performances.
Nongshim rewarded
What a great split from NS. The team kicked off the year in strong form, defeating nearly every opponent that looked weaker on paper. Now locked in for the LCK Playoffs, they have two tough matches left — one against T1 and the other against Dplus KIA — where they’ll be looking to hold on to their fourth-place spot.
As usual, Nongshim’s jungle-support duo delivered yet again. Son "Lehends" Si-woo continues to be the heartbeat of the team, often the one who sets things in motion. Jung "Jiwoo" Ji-woo returned to the starting lineup after a brief appearance from Ha "vital" In-seong. Kim "GIDEON" Min-seong shows solid synergy with Lehends, Hwang "Kingen" Seong-hoon remains a reliable presence in the toplane, and young midlaner Calix seems to have firmly secured his spot as the team’s starter in the midlane.
The roller coaster is on
It was a tough split for KT, but they’ve finally secured their spot in the Playoffs. With changes in nearly every position except the mid-jungle duo, Lee "PerfecT" Seung-min made a commanding return to the toplane — and the team is now riding a six-game win streak since his comeback. Moon "Cuzz" Woo-chan and Bdd continue to be the backbone of the roster, while Seo "deokdam" Dae-gil seems to be finding better synergy with each passing game. Jeong "Peter" Yoon-su has established himself as the team’s starting support, contributing not only to KT’s in-game cohesion but also to the team’s atmosphere, with his vocal presence often highlighted on broadcast.
Today, KT defeated a FEARX lineup that featured a new midlaner, as academy player Yoo "Daystar" Ji-myeong was subbed in for Lee "VicLa" Dae-kwang. Despite the loss, Daystar made a strong impression, once again showing just how stacked the midlane talent pool is in Korea. Bdd reaffirmed his status as one of the LCK’s elite and led his team to Playoffs qualification.
KT now look ahead to a crucial match against Gen.G next week, where they’ll aim to end their opponent’s perfect split — just as they did twice in 2024 — before closing out the regular season against DRX.
The final week of the LCK will kick off as usual next Wednesday, with FEARX facing DN Freecs at the bottom of the standings. The most anticipated matchup will be T1 versus HLE, which will take place immediately afterward.
