There were two pentakills today: Lucid pulled it off on Naafiri, while Aiming secured his on Zeri
Expected results and dominant wins in today’s LCK matches. Dplus KIA took down BNK FEARX in a fairly contested series, while Gen.G completely steamrolled DN Freecs, wrapping up both games in under 50 minutes. The Freecs only managed to secure 3 kills across the entire series and stood no chance against the league leaders. Heo "ShowMaker" Su and Joo "Duro" Min-kyu stood out the most and were named MVPs of their respective matches.
A quick look at the LCK standings: Gen.G remain at the top with a perfect 13-0 record, still undefeated this split. On the other end, DN Freecs sit in last place with a tough 1-12 scoreline. Dplus KIA gain a bit more confidence with their recent win and now hold fifth place in the standings, while FEARX slip to seventh after suffering their third consecutive loss.
Dplus KIA bounce back
After six straight losses, Dplus KIA are finally starting to turn things around—with a hard-fought win over DRX two days ago, and another today against FEARX, direct rivals in the race for the Playoffs. Game 1 was anything but easy. Youngster Nam "Diable" Dae-geun continues to impress, keeping his team alive with clutch plays, including a massive quadrakill on Ezreal. But it just wasn’t enough. A crucial fight at 32 minutes in the top side jungle saw Choi "Lucid" Yong-hyeok clean up with a pentakill on Naafiri, closing the game in favor of DK.
Game 2 was far more controlled. DK came out ahead right from the draft with ShowMaker on Azir and Pantheon for Lucid, the current jungle flavor of the meta. It was a winning combo—ShowMaker topped the damage charts, and Kim "Aiming" Ha-ram’s Zeri capped off the game with a pentakill. DK get the job done and wrap up a strong 2-0 week.
the perfect split ?
Now sitting at 13-0, Gen.G are just five series away from completing a perfect regular season—an achievement that’s beginning to feel more and more realistic. The real challenge will likely come next week when they face both T1 and Hanwha Life Esports, two of the top contenders. Beyond that, the rest of their schedule looks comfortably in their favor. Today’s series against the Freecs was over in a flash: 25 minutes for Game 1, 24 for Game 2. It was total domination. The Freecs managed just three kills across both games, while Gen.G racked up 31 and barely gave them room to breathe.
Every player on the Gen.G roster looked in top form. Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk ended the day with a flawless 16/0/1, and Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu added a 5/1/19 to the tally. Joo "Duro" Min-kyu was especially impressive, making a huge case for himself in this superstar lineup with strong performances on Alistar and Rell, finishing the series with 84% kill participation. Gen.G are more than on track to pull off the perfect split—an accomplishment that’s eluded them for years. In both 2024 regular seasons, they finished 17-1, falling each time to KT Rolster, who they’re still set to face. The only team to ever complete a flawless regular season in the LCK remains T1, back in Spring 2022.
The weekend will kick off with DRX taking on Nongshim RedForce. NS come in as heavy favorites and should logically strengthen their hold on fourth place. Later on, KT Rolster will face OKSavingsbank BRION as they look to secure a fourth straight win and keep building momentum.
