Faker continues to make his name as the GOAT of League of Legends
On the occasion of these 2025 Worlds, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok made a bit more history in the game by becoming the only player to participate in his tenth World Championship. The player who is widely considered to be the GOAT of the game has already won more than half of the Worlds he has participated in, with five titles won since his first competition in 2013.
In his traditional humility, the T1 midlaner admitted after his team's first match won against FlyQuest on Wednesday that he wasn't even aware he was going to participate in his tenth competition. "Honestly, I wasn't aware that it was my tenth Worlds, he said on the official broadcast. "But after a lot of people told me, I realized, "Wow, I've been around for a long time." I am truly grateful to have so many fans who still support me and celebrate my records and milestones with me."
The face of the competition
On League of Legends, with the Worlds being the most followed competition by fans, players who have made a name for themselves in the competition have not been lacking. But above these players stands a man who, from the third season until today, has never stopped being one of the best. In his 13-year career, he only missed the World Championships in 2014, 2018, and 2020.

During all his other years of participation, Faker established his name at the top of the rankings in all categories. In addition to being the player with the most appearances and titles, he also has the most games, wins, kills, and assists. By defeating IG in the play-in match, Faker secured his 110th victory at Worlds, which is more than the number of matches played by the second player at Worlds, Li "Xiaohu" Yuanhao, with 109 matches. He also has nine champion skins in the game, six of which he obtained after winning world championships, which is more than a good portion of the game's characters.
Always in search of a new title
Even after so many years of achievement, Faker remains a competitor and will attempt to add a new title to his record this year. T1 announced a few months ago that they had extended the player's contract until 2029. Currently, the team is 1-1 in the competition after losing their second match against CTBC Flying Oyster. The team will face Gen.G in a rematch of the last LCK final tomorrow.
