All three LEC teams lose their opening matches
The first day of the 2025 Worlds Swiss Stage wraps up on Wednesday, with most BOs following expectations — except for the biggest surprise of the day: 100 Thieves defeating Bilibili Gaming. The three European teams all lost, with Fnatic falling to CTBC Flying Oyster, Movistar KOI to KT Rolster, and G2 Esports to Top Esports. On the LCK side, three out of four teams secured wins, while the LPL saw two of its representatives start the competition strong.
In the LCP, the region gets off to a winning start, reinforcing its status as a strong region, Team Secret Whales also securing a win against Vivo Keyd Stars. The LTA, on the other hand, struggles, managing only one win against two losses, as FlyQuest, the region’s first seed, falls to the LCK’s fourth seed and reigning double world champions, T1.
An eventful day
The day at Worlds was enjoyable to watch. To start, both LCP teams secured convincing BO wins, with VKS and FNC unable to make an impact against TSW and CFO, respectively. Movistar KOI then managed to hold their own against KT Rolster, with David "Supa" García solo killing Seo "deokdam" Dae-gil and Javier "Elyoya" Prades stealing an Atakhan. Unfortunately for Europe, Gwak "Bdd" Bo-seong was once again in form and secured the game.
Next, BLG completely faltered against 100 Thieves, highlighted by Chen "Bin" Ze-Bin on Rek'Sai getting solo killed by Niship "Dhokla" Doshi. Then came T1 versus FlyQuest. FLY decided to leave Bard open against Ryu "Keria" Min-seok, which turned out to be a major mistake. T1 stomped Fly in Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok’s 300th international game, with Keria being dominant on Bard, just as he mentioned in his interview with Sheep Esports before the BO.
The day’s closest and most interesting BO followed between Anyone's Legend and Hanwha Life Esports, with the two teams exchanging blows until AL ultimately came out on top. The final two BOs were also stomps, with TES defeating G2 and Gen.G taking down PSG Talon.
