Barça Avenges Previous Final Losses to Los Heretics
The Spanish champions have been dethroned. Los Heretics, the three-time consecutive Superliga titleholders, were defeated in the lower bracket final of the Spring Split by Barça eSports. This victory allowed the Catalan team to finally avenge their losses to the LEC academy squad, having been bested by them in the previous two Superliga finals. Barça will now face another academy team, GIANTX Pride, in the grand final—marking their third consecutive appearance—as they strive to secure their inaugural title in the Spanish League of Legends Championship.
The outcome of the match was far from straightforward. Barça eSports initially took a 2-0 lead but saw Los Heretics rally to level the series at 2-2. Demonstrating resilience, the Blaugranas managed to clinch the decisive game. The botlane proved pivotal, with Sergio Vicente "Legolas" Gispert delivering standout performances: 11/2/5 on Kai’Sa in Game 1, 9/1/10 on Xayah in Game 2, and 5/0/9 on Zeri in Game 5. For Heretics, Kacper “Daglas” Dagiel was arguably the most impactful player during their two victories...despite a questionable Rift Herald play in Game 4.
Third Seed for EMEA Masters
Although Los Heretics will not claim the Spring championship, their split isn't over yet. The Superliga is among the six ERLs allocated three slots for the Spring EMEA Masters, and Los Heretics will occupy Spain's third seed. In that sense, Eric "Independent" Ruiz’s squad may face a tougher group stage draw due to their lower seeding, but they remain a dark horse, and above all, an opponent even top-seeded teams would rather steer clear of. On May 30, Barça and GIANTX Pride will compete not only for the Superliga title but also for the top Spanish seed at the EMEA Masters.
