After 3 years with SK Gaming and a year at Team Liquid
Simon "Swiffer" Papamarkos is set to join Dignitas as Head Coach for the 2026 LCS season, according to sources close to Sheep Esports. Swiffer spent the entire 2025 season as an Assistant Coach on Team Liquid's coaching staff and helped the team lift the LTA's first split trophy. Previously, he served as the Head Coach of SK Gaming in the LEC for three years.
During the offseason, Swiffer was also considered by Team Heretics in the LEC, who decided to lock Jonas "Hidon" Vraa as Head Coach in the final process. Swiffer ended in second place in the shortlist.
Dignitas have been in the offseason for over two months now, with their season ending on August 23 and their third split concluding with a last-place finish in LTA North. They even loaned their midlaner Kim "Keine" Joon-cheol to Isurus in LTA South so he could play in the Promotion Tournament held in September, which they went on to win.
Changes in the staff
Alongside Swiffer’s hiring, Dignitas recently brought Jonathon “Jonathon” McDaniel as their new General Manager. Jonathon replaced longtime GM James “Bakery” Baker, who stepped down from the GM role but remains vice president of the organization. Jonathon is well-known in the NA scene for his history with Cloud9 Academy, Golden Guardians, Counter Logic Gaming, and NRG. He is credited with strong underdog roster-building and led CLG to success with key talents before achieving a championship with NRG, including a memorable sweep of G2 Esports at Worlds 2023.
Swiffer’s arrival marks the team’s first move since Jonathon took office. At 31 years old, Swiffer brings four years of coaching experience in tier-one leagues. He spent three years with SK Gaming between 2022 and 2024 and notably led the team during the 2024 Summer Split — one of the few splits where SK managed to reach mid-table, with Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer in the midlane. He also spent a year with Team Liquid, during which he participated in an international event, the First Stand, although the team finished last.
