. On Tuesday,
announced that the 2020 World Champion, who had role-swapped to support at the beginning of the season, will once again play as an AD Carry.
“After extensive discussions with the player, we have decided to move them to the ADC role for the remainder of the season, with the best interests of both the player and the team in mind,” the organization wrote on social media.
The team also confirmed that, after spending the past few months with the academy roster, Ghost will rejoin the main squad, where he is expected to compete for the starting AD Carry position with Kim "Aiming" Ha-ram, alongside whom he had played in the botlane during the LCK Cup. These developments add yet another twist to the veteran's already eventful career.
Indeed, two years after lifting the Summoner's Cup, Ghost announced his retirement following the 2022 LCK Summer Split, which he contested under the banner of Nongshim RedForce. After two years away from the spotlight, the Korean veteran resurfaced on the competitive scene in 2025, albeit on another continent and in a considerably less prominent league. He joined Estral Esports in the Liga Regional Norte, the Tier 2 circuit of Latin America North in 2025.
Demoted after the LCK Cup
His arrival at KT Rolster at the start of the 2026 season therefore came as something of a surprise, particularly given his transition to support. The challenge was significant, as he had been tasked with succeeding Jeong "Peter" Yoon-su, who had played a major role in KT's run to the World Championship final the previous year. Ghost was not expected to shoulder the responsibility alone, however, as he was set to share the position with Oh "Pollu" Dong-gyu.
Things did not unfold as planned. KT endured a disappointing LCK Cup campaign. Ghost, who featured more frequently than Pollu throughout the tournament, posted a modest 36.4% win rate, winning four games and losing seven. The performances of both supports ultimately cost them their places on the main roster, and they were reassigned to the academy team in the LCK Challengers League for Rounds 1 and 2, with Lee "Effort" Sang-ho brought in as their replacement.
From there, matters improved somewhat for Ghost. He played the same number of games in the LCK CL as he had during the LCK Cup, but with an almost inverse record, posting a 63.6% win rate with seven victories and four defeats. Nevertheless, his last appearance dates back to April 28, with Pollu featuring throughout the remainder of the first phase of the season.
Ghost will therefore need to quickly regain his competitive rhythm if he hopes to challenge Aiming for the starting spot. Particularly as KT begins its Legend Group campaign this Wednesday against the league's four heavyweights: Hanwha Life Esports, T1, Gen.G, and Dplus.
