have made only one roster change ahead of the 2026 Summer Split. A move that echoes the reshuffle they went through in 2025. As
previously reported, Lim “
” Seong-min will be the Black and Orange’s new toplaner, as the organization turned to the Chinese player after also exploring options in the LCK, LCK CL, and Europe.
The final decision came down to Soboro over Seong “
Guardian” Tae-hyo, the T1 Academy toplaner who was also seriously considered. Soboro arrives from
, where he won the 2026 Demacia Cup and played in LPL Split 1. This will be his first time competing in the LEC, and he will also reunite with Park “
” Joon-hyeong, with whom he briefly played at Gen.G Academy in 2021. He replaces Panagiotis “
” Tanti, who failed to convince after only two splits in the LEC and has now been moved out of the lineup.
A change that feels inevitable
Fnatic are going through what may be the worst year in the organization’s European history. One of the oldest and most decorated teams in the region, and the second most successful behind G2 Esports, they are now fighting to stop a worrying slide that has been building since the start of the year.
This is not the first time the Black and Orange have faced a crisis on this scale. Their previous major downturn came in 2023, when the return of Martin “
” Larsson coincided with a rough stretch that ended in 9th place at Winter and 8th at Spring. Back then, the Summer split was saved by a botlane change that carried them all the way to a Worlds qualification.
In 2026, the situation looks familiar. Fnatic finished 8th at LEC Versus and 7th at Spring, missing the playoffs entirely. With the team stuck in reverse, the organization has opted to bring in an Asian profile and move on from Empyros, one of the two rookies
signed during the last transfer window.
Soboro’s profile
Even if his Tier 1 résumé is still limited, Soboro has been around the professional scene for several years. He has spent time with multiple LCK organizations, including HANJIN BRION and BNK FEARX, although his opportunities in Korea’s top league remained short and unstable. Most of his development came in the LCK Challengers League, where he won the title last year with FEARX Youth.
Earlier this year, he joined Invictus Gaming, but his performances did not meet expectations and he was eventually benched after the first split. He was then released by the Chinese organization ahead of Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok’s return to the starting lineup. This will not be his first European experience either, as he previously played for Galakticos in the TCL during the 2023 season.
With this signing, Fnatic are hoping to gain a more versatile toplaner than Empyros. Since the start of the year, the team often pushed the Greek player into weak-side duties and struggled to fully make use of his strengths. Soboro, by contrast, has built his identity as a carry-oriented toplaner.
