Despite having yet to secure players for its roster,
have, per sources, finalized their coaching staff for the upcoming
2027 LEC season. After reaching an agreement earlier this month to extend the tenure of head coach
André "Guilhoto" Pereira Guilhoto, the Spanish organization is now set to re-sign all three members of its support staff: assistant coaches and former LEC players
and
Nubar "Maxlore" Sarafian, as well as analyst
Kamil "Samulek" Samulewski.
Same Foundation, New Vision?
A team veiled in uncertainty heading into the new year, GIANTX at least have one thing going for them:
an established structure. Though their tenures may have been of slightly different lengths, the three members of the support staff have now worked together for the better part of 2026. Rhuckz
originally joined in Summer 2025, while Maxlore was
brought on for the 2026 season, and analyst Samulek
joined for the 2026 Spring Split. With the trio having had plenty of time to establish their framework and responsibilities, GX's decision to retain the entire support staff suggests that the organization believes the setup has borne fruit.
The continuation of GIANTX's existing staff appears to be a logical first step in an offseason where the organization faces considerable uncertainty on the roster front. Earlier this month, sources indicated that two of the team's current players will be departing, with
midlaner and
support set to join
in 2027. While GX could still look to re-sign further players, the organization will have to move quickly, as all of its current roster members are set to reach
the end of their contracts later in November.
Regardless, change is coming to GIANTX. This stands in contrast to the start of the year, when the squad was
one of the few teams to retain its entire roster. The organization will therefore enter 2027 in a very different position from the one it occupied this year, with much of its lineup still to be determined.
Disappointing Finish, Uncertain Future
This summer, the team finished the
LEC Summer Split in sixth place, making it the only playoff participant to miss out on an appearance at the
2026 Demacia Cup Global Invitational. The result contrasted with a relatively stagnant but stable team earlier in the year, which had secured back-to-back fourth-place finishes.
While the result may have brought frustration and a desire to improve, it could take some time for the organization to rebuild its vision and identify the talent it wants to carry that project forward. The
third-lowest spender of the LEC in early 2025, the squad is, per sources, set to remain conservative with its roster spending. This could indicate a desire to replicate its success with Jackies, who was recruited from the ERLs and developed into the team's franchise player at a relatively low cost.
As
previously reported, Guilhoto will receive an increased salary as part of his re-signing, while GIANTX has also now committed part of its budget to retaining its entire support staff. A significant roster shake-up is therefore coming, but it remains too early in the offseason to know how the team will fare in 2027. What is clear, however, is that GIANTX will have to replace two of its established starters, including Jackies, after building much of its 2026 roster around the young midlaner.
