Paper Rex, a historic VALORANT team, will unsurprisingly be part of the new VCT Pacific partnership cycle for 2027 and 2028. The Singaporean organization is already working on preparations for next season and is reportedly set to retain Jason "f0rsakeN" Susanto and Ilia "something" Petrov for next year, sources tell Sheep Esports. Alongside Adrian "invy" Reyes, whose contract already runs until the end of 2027, PRX appears to have secured three players for its roster.
As for the remaining two spots, the club has allowed Khalish "d4v41" Rusyaidee, one of its longtime players who has been with the team since 2021, to announce on X that he is looking for a new project for 2027, with his contract set to expire in the coming days. The same goes for Wang "Jinggg" Jing Jie, who is reportedly still in negotiations with Paper Rex while also exploring other options, according to sources close to Sheep Esports. His contract also expires in 2026, as both players await clarity on the Singaporean organization's plans for them.
Having been with the team since 2021 and 2023, respectively, f0rsakeN and something are two prominent figures in VALORANT esports. Alongside Paper Rex, they have consistently competed at the highest level and attended almost every international LAN event. Having already finished second at Masters Copenhagen in 2022, the club has made a habit of reaching the runner-up spot, finishing second at LAN events four times in total, including VALORANT Champions 2023. They have also secured two third-place finishes, at Masters Tokyo in 2023 and Masters Madrid in 2024.
A nearly successful year for Paper Rex
It took until 2025 in Toronto, following an unsuccessful first Masters appearance of the year, for Paper Rex to lift its first major international title. The team then finished fourth at VALORANT Champions Paris. In 2026, however, the curse struck harder than ever, with two runner-up finishes at international events. After placing third at VCT Pacific Kickoff, the club qualified for Santiago, the first Masters event of 2026, where it comfortably made it out of the group stage. In the playoffs, PRX was caught off guard by NRG Esports in the second round, dropping to the lower bracket before fighting its way back through the bracket. The team notably got its revenge against the North American players in the lower final, only to eventually lose the grand final to the surprising Nongshim RedForce, another VCT Pacific team.
Back in Seoul for Stage 1, f0rsakeN and something led their team to another regional title, securing the first seed for London. Sent directly to the playoffs, Paper Rex put together a perfect run, defeating Leviatán, Team Vitality, and then EDward Gaming before facing the Argentine organization again in the grand final. Having entered the decisive match in excellent form after an almost flawless lower-bracket run, LEV once again pulled off an upset to defeat PRX, handing the Asian players their second consecutive grand final loss.
Despite finishing in the top 5-6 at Stage 2, the Singaporean team comfortably qualified for VALORANT Champions Shanghai, where it was drawn into Group C. After opening with a victory over Team Liquid, PRX followed it up with a win against G2 Esports to secure its place in the World Championship playoffs. In the final stretch of the 2026 season, Paper Rex was ultimately caught off guard by LOUD, the eventual champions, in the quarterfinals before losing to T1 in the first round of the lower bracket. The result saw the Singaporean team eliminated from Champions in the top 7-8.
