Riot Games unveils updated ERL map for 2026

After initially sharing an incomplete map, Riot Games have updated their new map showcasing all 13 regions competing in EMEA in 2026. Each European Regional League (ERL) featured on this map will determine which teams represent their region at EMEA Masters, which will keep its three editions this year.

No major changes are being introduced to the ERL landscape for 2026. Only the Spanish league will see a shift, as it will now have a new tournament organizer, with Lastlap replacing the LVP.

Each region will still compete in a three-split format with Winter split being between 7 January - 8 March, Spring Split: 23 March - 7 June, Summer Split: 26 June - 17 September.

Despite the breadth and diversity of EMEA’s Tier 2 ecosystem, concerns around the ERLs are growing. An estimated 80% of teams are worried about the future of the system, according to Sheep Esports. With limited revenue and declining viewership—particularly in some leagues—the ERL structure may be showing its limits and could require an overhaul, potentially consolidating the system into fewer leagues. While speculation and rumours point in that direction, Sheep Esports has not yet been able to confirm such changes through its sources.

Nevertheless, more influencer-backed teams are set to join in 2026, with streamers such as Trayton (LFL) and Forsen (NLC) building their own teams.
