"I do prefer playing an AD Carry where you have to lane and see who does it better rather than both marksmen clearing waves while you hope your team wins the game elsewhere."

The second week of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2026 Summer Split featured a David-versus-Goliath match. came into their match against Cloud9 as the underdog, and even though the series was closer than expected, Dignitas will have to continue chasing their first win of the final split of the year.
Following their defeat against C9, Victor â" Huang, DIGâs AD Carry, spoke with Sheep Esports about the comments made by Lee â" Min-hyeong about the botlane meta, the decision to swap Kyeong â" Gyu-tae with Noah â" Erikson, and Lawrence â" Xu Game 1 voice comm replay.
Dignitasâ comms were played during Game 1, where Exyu says: âTake a deep breath, Vic. I feel like youâre pressuring everyone a lot.â Who on the team dictates when to go in and when to pull back?
Victor âFBI" Huang: âI think it just depends a lot on the game. Obviously, itâs ideal for the engages to be able to call and send it when they see the enemy making a mistake. I do think League of Legends is a game of whoever makes the fewest mistakes and whoever is ready to punish those mistakes. Anyone can see a good fight angle or a good engage and try to call it, but the people with the engage tools must recognize quickly when the enemy is making a mistake and go.
Dignitas had a complicated early game in Game 3, but a good fight in toplane gave you a chance to come back. However, a couple of midlane mistakes erased this possibility. What was going through the teamâs mind?
FBI: It was a good angle to punish the opponent when they overextended in the toplane. I think the game had equalized, though I would say they had a bit of an advantage. Obviously, it would come down to who would fight better after that. We made a mistake mid lane, which was pretty unfortunate. Iâm not sure what was going through our minds; we were talking about the next objective fight. I think that after they made that mistake, if we had been able to set up control and hold the vision, it would have been pretty difficult for them to enter the zone. Itâs a bit unfortunate.
Itâs been a problem for Dignitas to maintain a steady performance across a series. Why do you think the team struggles when trying to close out games?
FBI: Without giving too much away, weâre pretty good at certain champions, and I also think we have some issues with champion pool and mastery. At times, our games become pretty random. I would say theyâre not following a clean structure, just hungry for opportunities. Iâm not sure; sometimes we just run it down. Thatâs pretty much all I can say.
Letâs talk about the discourse around the current meta on the botlane. First, do you agree or disagree with Gumayusiâs argument, saying that "choosing a role is almost like choosing a class in another game. Every role has something people want from it"?
FBI: I lean towards agreeing with his statements. I think he said that thereâs room for niche picks in the bottom lane, like Ziggs and certain mages, but when itâs infested with mages, your role⊠I mean, the role is called AD Carry. At the end of the day, I agree with the sentiment. I will say it was quite fun playing mages, but I think itâs just a symptom of support being too OP and their ability to move around the jungle at the moment. I will say the game is, especially early to mid game, really dictated by the junglerâs tempo and how strong he can be. Sundered Sky is quite broken; itâs a very strong first spike in the game. Having mid-jungle control and spreading it to different areas around the map makes mages strong in botlane because you can still lane bottom while your support plays with the mid-jungle duo. Iâm not too sure how they can really balance that. I know there are certain teams, like , who were playing a lot of mages and have gone back to playing traditional AD Carries. I would say itâs pretty strong, especially with support picks like Camille and Shen, who can have a lot of impact across the map in the early game. I do prefer playing an AD Carry where you have to lane and see who does it better rather than both marksmen clearing waves while you hope your team wins the game elsewhere.
I understand that the role is called âAD Carry,â and you agree with Gumayusi. What is the biggest issue with the current meta?
FBI: For me, I donât mind playing and playing against mages. The bigger problem is how forgiving it is for supports to leave the lane at level 1 and impact elsewhere. Itâs not really that fun to play, especially for the AD Carries in botlane dove by two people because their support decided he'd rather gank toplane level 1 or play with the jungler from level 1. On the other side, youâre playing 1v2, are waiting to be dove, and playing to TP back. Itâs not that fun for bot, but I will say that toplaners had to go through the lane swap meta, and they tried their best to get any bit of exp, so I guess we canât really complain. They [Riot Games] changed that, so we canât really complain. I will assume theyâre trying to prevent supports from choosing where they want to play from level 1. I think mages are kind of a big part of enabling that. Weâll have to see.
Dignitas brought in Denathor for the Summer Split. Was there a specific reason for this change?
FBI: Yeah. Photonâs gameplay wasnât the biggest problem for us, but it was difficult to integrate him into the teamâs environment, to play the game on the same page as five, and to get along. That was the biggest reason for the change in toplane. The gameplay that he showed was fine, but there were other factors.
At the end of the day, humans have relationships, and not all relationships are simple.
FBI: Yeah, exactly.
I understand you didnât have much input, but why do you think the team chose him?
FBI: Denathor?
Yes, Denathor.
FBI: Honestly, Iâm not sure. Denathor was in Korea at the time, as well as being Challenger. Generally, if youâre able to reach Challenger in Korea, your mechanics are probably solid enough to play in the LCS. I was really pleasantly surprised by his game knowledge, his ability to integrate into the team, and his willingness to play the team game, especially for a rookie just coming into the league. Iâm really happy with his attitude and the way heâs been playing the game so far. Iâm sure he will improve as the season progresses.
Assistant Coach Emanuel âEmiâ Ursachi shared with us that Dignitasâ goal is to reach the top 4 and qualify for an international. Youâre coming off a contested game against a team we established is a Top 3 team in the league. How big is the gap between you and the other teams chasing the spots for Worlds?
FBI: Honestly speaking, the gap is pretty big between Dignitas and . We had a decent series against C9 today. I will say TL and are substantially better than us. They play the game much faster, play together as a team, and have a lot of experience from playing the international tournaments this year, which you can see in their gameplay. We have a long way to go, but as long as we make it into the playoffs, any teamâs form fluctuates a lot throughout the year. Whatâs important is your form going into and at the end of the playoffs. Of course, assuming we can make the playoffs, even though we didnât win a single series last split. The playoffs are all that matters. It doesnât really matter how much better the other teams are than you during the regular season because all it takes for a team is one good week where everyone feels connected and plays for each other. What it takes for this is handling yourself on an individual level and then playing as a team. It only takes one good week and then riding that momentum all the way to the end of the playoffs.
You have experience with these last-minute ramp-ups to qualify for Worlds. Didnât you do it with 100 Thieves last season?
FBI: Yeah!
Will Dignitas be able to recreate this magic?
FBI: Yes, I do believe so. I will say last year, at the end of the regular season, we had two weeks to prepare for the playoffs because we had a bye week. I genuinely felt that during those two weeks of practice, we really grew stronger as a team, and it showed in our playoff run. Thereâs no reason we canât do the same thing this year. Again, just one game at a time from my perspective, especially at the moment. The goal is to make the playoffs, and then anything can happen from there.
Youâll play LYON next week. What key takeaways does the team need to learn from that series to make the miracle run possible?
FBI: Learn from the series today or from the series against LYON?
From this series against C9 and the next series against LYON...
FBI: The biggest takeaway from todayâs series is tempo. Tempo is a blanket statement, but itâs the most important part of professional League of Legends. At the moment, we struggle to maintain good tempo in the game because it opens more angles for you to play and fewer for the opponent. I would say thatâs our biggest focus going into next week against LYON. As for the series after LYON, I enjoy playing against my former teammates, so itâs always fun to play against Big Dhokes (Niship ââ Doshi), who's been performing and doing really well. Iâm really happy for him, but cut us some dough, man. Let us take you out real quick. It will be fun.â
