CBLOL 2026 Split 2 Finals in Rio to feature reduced audience capacity

On Wednesday, Riot Games Brazil confirmed to Sheep Esports that the CBLOL 2026 Split 2 Grand Final, set to take place at Arena Carioca 1 in Rio de Janeiro, will have a maximum capacity of 6,000 spectators. The event will serve as the biggest offline competition of the Brazilian League of Legends season, bringing together the two finalists to compete for the national championship.

According to Riot, the figure represents around 75% of the venue's total capacity, as Arena Carioca 1 can normally accommodate approximately 8,000 people. The reduced audience capacity is due to operational requirements needed to host the event.

In a statement to Sheep Esports, Riot Games Brazil explained that part of Arena Carioca 1 will be occupied by the Finals stage, technical infrastructure, and the traditional opening ceremony performance, reducing the amount of seating available for spectators. The setup is similar to previous CBLOL Finals, where sections of the arena must be closed off to accommodate the production, broadcast infrastructure, and live show.

In addition to crowning the CBLOL 2026 Split 2 champion, the Grand Final will also have major implications for international qualification. The winning team will secure a direct spot in the 2026 League of Legends Worlds Swiss Stage, avoiding the Play-In Stage.

Additionally, for the first time since the introduction of Riot Games' new competitive ecosystem, Brazil will have two representatives at Worlds. While the Split 2 champion will therefore qualify directly for the Swiss Stage, the region will also send a second team to the tournament. Riot Games Brazil has not yet provided definitive details regarding this second slot, including whether the runner-up will qualify for the Play-In Stage or if a separate qualifier will be held to determine Brazil’s second representative.

The CBLOL 2026 Split 2 Grand Final will mark the return of Brazil's premier League of Legends competition to Rio de Janeiro. The last final held in the city took place in 2021, when defeated Rensga 3-1 at Morro da Urca in a closed-door event due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Before that, Rio de Janeiro had hosted two other CBLOL Finals. In 2019, claimed the title with a 3-2 victory over at Jeunesse Arena. Earlier, in 2014, defeated CNB 3-1 at Ginásio do Maracanãzinho. With the 2026 edition, Rio de Janeiro will host a CBLOL Final for the fourth time.
