LEVIATÁN will be a VCT Americas Partner Team starting in 2027, securing their place for the next two years, sources tell Sheep Esports. The Argentine organization has been part of the league since the partnership model began in 2023, and in 2026 became the first South American-majority roster to win a Masters.
Riot’s evaluation considered several factors, including fan engagement, recent performance, regional results, and long-term commitment. LEVIATÁN’s results across the cycle, which include a Champions podium, a regional title, and a Masters trophy, have made it a strong candidate for the partnership program.
A major overhaul
As a reminder, VALORANT’s Tier 1 ecosystem is set for a major overhaul in 2027, with the number of partner teams dropping from ten to eight across all four regions: Americas, EMEA, Pacific, and China.
The circuit will also become open, but partnership will remain a significant advantage. Partner teams will receive a base payment and retain revenue from their in-game team capsules. Competitively, they are guaranteed a spot in Kickoff, which will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, from January 14 to February 7. They will also bypass the opening rounds of the Open Qualifiers for the Cups, which replace the Stage tournaments from previous seasons.
The Cups will serve as qualifiers for international events. In the Americas, the first will take place in Mexico City, Mexico, from April 29 to May 23, followed by a second in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5 to 29. The year’s first Masters is scheduled for Seoul, South Korea, from February 20 to March 3.
A historic yet bittersweet 2026
LEVIATÁN’s 2026 season was defined by its rebuild around South American talent. The team reached the Stage 1 final after an unbeaten playoff run, but lost 3-2 to G2 Esports. At Masters London, they won the Swiss Stage 2-0, defeating Global Esports and NRG, before being stopped by Paper Rex in the quarterfinals. They then fought through the lower bracket and beat the Pacific team 3-2 in the grand final to lift the trophy.
The year ended on a sour note. LEVIATÁN entered Stage 2 playoffs as a top seed, but lost to 100 Thieves in the upper bracket and to G2 in the lower bracket. The result left them short on Championship Points, and as a consequence they missed Champions Shanghai despite being Masters champions.
LEVIATÁN’s cycle in the partnered league
The organization’s first partnered season, in 2023, ended in frustration. The roster came close to reaching Champions, but finished second in the Last Chance Qualifier after a 1-3 loss to KRÜ Esports. In 2024, a new roster turned the project around, finishing 9-1 in the Stage 2 regular season before beating KRÜ and G2 Esports 3-1 in the grand final to win its first Americas title. Led by the Brazilian Duelist Erick “aspas” Santos, Leviatán then finished third at Champions Seoul.
The following year did not go as planned. Despite assembling a high-profile North American lineup, LEVIATÁN finished 5th-6th at Kickoff, 9th in Stage 1 and 5th in Stage 2, and failed to reach a single international LAN. The organization then pivoted to South American talent, promoting rookies Guilherme “blowz” Oliveira and Bruno “Neon” Rodríguez from its academy roster, which had dominated Challengers LAS, and signing Rodrigo “spikeziN” Lombardi from 2GAME.
What comes next
With its partnership secured for another two years, LEVIATÁN’s main question is its roster. As previously reported by Sheep Esports, in-game leader Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena and the Duelist Eduardo "Sato" Nagahama intend to join G2 Esports for 2027.
