We now have four teams left in the
LEC Season Finals with two Worlds qualification spots on the line,
G2 esports have easily made it through the second round of the loser bracket after crossing the path of a
GiantX team that was promising but didn't have what it takes to put up a true challenge against LEC #1 team.
G2 wins, what else ?
On paper, there isn't much to say about this BO5 as G2 was simply a far better team than GiantX. The three-time LEC 2024 Split winner has regained its usual form, dismantling GX with a nearly flawless performance and clinical execution that left no hope for the inexperienced GX roster, which relied solely on bravery in its attempt to defeat the LEC giant. In the end, G2 hasn't even lost a single turret, a true butchery.
Not only did G2 came back today with a strong cohesion and irreproachable individual performance, they also arrived with precise preparation that shook GX's fundamentals of play and set G2 on a pedestal above GX. Rasmus "Caps" Winther has notably added some midlane picks to his arsenal (Smolder, Corki and Tristana). This marks a big change for G2 in style as they previously played the full BO5 against MAD Lions KOI with no AD pick in the midlane.

Martin "Yike" Sundelin's priority picks have also changed in this BO5, bringing in two Ivern picks and a Maokai, which is another major change of pace compared to the Nocturne-Vi priority against MDK. All in all, Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik declared "
we will need to change the way we play"
in an interview with Sheep Esports, and he hasn't said that without meaning it, as it is an entirely different G2 that exited the LEC gates today.
GiantX faced a reality check
Full of hope after the Summer Playoffs, which revealed the significant potential of a roster many had expected to fail, GX has faced the same challenge as SK yesterday: while it may be easy to establish yourself in the middle tier of the LEC, breaking into the top four is much tougher.
With 0 turret taken and not a single minute where GX have been in a winning spot, early elimination from the Season Finals is nothing but a cold verdict of top-level competitiveness. As has happened many times this year, Adam "Jackies" Jeřábek was the only one who seemed to be on the same level as the enemy team, but even he couldn't prevent Caps from delivering an S-tier performance.
Jackies' first year in the LEC is a total success, the czech midlaner is promised to a bright future
Both GX's team plays and individual performances struggled heavily against G2. With the individual skill gap evident from the very first minion wave, GX never really had the chance to showcase their teamfighting abilities. Antonio "Th3Antonio" Espinosa Bejarano's limits - both in his champion pool and overall league ability - were outlined by Brokenblade, who outclassed him in the three laning phases and created a topside gap that Lee "Juhan" Ju-han could not compensate.
The support-jungle duo played a major role in G2's domination, with Mihael "Mikyx" Mehle acting as the bully of the entire GX team. GX was never able to establish their tempo, constantly chasing G2's movements and unable to show any proactivity.
