The light autumn breeze runs through the Dallas prairies. Allen, located north the main city, prepares to host the 2026
League of Legends World Championship, and the teams are eager to start the tournament on the right foot. Kim “
" Su-hwan is living his first worlds as part of an iconic organization like
.
The
first draw from the Swiss Stage paired the current back-to-back-to-back champions against Brazilian champion
. In an exclusive interview with
Sheep Esports, the Korean botlaner shared his thoughts on things being bigger in Texas, his Round 1 match against his former Gen.G Academy teammate, and confirms if T1’s botlaner pair is the best in the world when in-form.
How have you adjusted to jet lag and a different culture?
Kim “Peyz" Su-hwan: “I'm adjusting to jet lag pretty well. Obviously, we haven't really had a chance to go out and experience much. So far, I can tell that the sky and the environment in Texas is beautiful, and it's just such a new place to be in. I've been enjoying myself here.
There’s a saying, “things in Texas are bigger.” Since your arrival, has anything’s size caught you by surprise?
Peyz: I haven't been out too much, so I can't say for sure, but I have noticed that the roads are a lot bigger and wider.
We saw on your solo queue that you played Viego ADC. Would you say that's a possible secret pick, and what would make it viable?
Peyz: No, this will most likely not appear on stage. This isn't a pick that's viable at all. That pick was something that I really wanted to play because I saw it on a YouTube video, and it looked really funny.
Western analysts have said that Ryu “Keria” Min-seok and you are the best botlane in the world when you're in form. Do you agree with that?
Peyz: Yes!
Follow up question, which botlane pair would pose a major threat against you at the tournament?
Peyz: There are a lot of really strong bot duos at the World Championship. Rather than being able to pinpoint which one would pose a threat, I can confidently say that as long as we are in form, no one can be a threat to us.
A storyline that rose from your great MSI performance was the Damage per Minute record. This record has stood for nine years. What do you think is needed from your team or from you to break that record?
Peyz: I'm not sure if I actually need something from my teammates. I think I need to hit harder.
Throughout your career, you’ve had a high number of games where you do more than 1000 DPM. Have you identified if League of Legends is in an upward trend damage-wise?
Peyz: Honestly, I don't really remember how it was like before, like a long time ago. I'm sure that there have been changes, ups and downs, but I have never really been too focused on these numbers while I play, so I can't really say for sure.
For round 1, you're facing your former Gen.G Academy teammate Kim “” Dong-Min. Is there any memory that you treasure with him from your time at Gen.G Academy?
Peyz: Back then, we had a lot of fun with each other. He’s definitely one of my closest teammates that I had in my career, even outside of that period of time when we were playing together. I keep in touch with him, and facing him this Worlds, it's going to feel so different, and it’s quite surreal. I think it's going to be really fun playing against him.
Do you have any words for him?
Peyz: Let's have fun!
This Worlds motto is “this is our moment”. Why is this Peyz's moment?
Peyz: This is my moment because my team and I want to shine the brightest this year.”
