have lost no time this offseason. After three years in the
EMEA Regional Leagues, support
is set to join the
LEC in 2027 and evolve under the banner of Spanish organization GIANTX, sources tell
Sheep Esports. A six-time regional league champion and two-time EMEA Masters titleholder, the South Korean support will finally get his shot in the big leagues after two individually successful tenures under
in 2025 and
in 2026, with whom he
reached the 2026 World Star Challengers Invitational grand finals, carrying the hopes of Europe.
Multiple teams interested
Last year, Piero was already close to making his LEC debut as a support. After Fnatic were unable to acquire Jun from GIANTX following discussions over his buyout, the British organization narrowed its options down to two supports: Piero and Park “Lospa” Joon-hyeong. In the end, Fnatic opted to sign the latter.
This offseason, Fnatic has once again shown interest in Piero, despite the team still being in the early stages of its offseason plans and actively looking to hire a general manager in Berlin. Team Vitality have also expressed interest in the player. However, neither organization ultimately made an offer. Meanwhile, GIANTX moved quickly to secure Piero, reaching a verbal agreement with the support early in the offseason.
Aiming for a head start
While not the only one to have made moves already, GIANTX have certainly had a jumpstart in the offseason, having now locked in their
coaching staff, as well as their first starting player. This move, though, was especially precipitated by the departure of long-time GX support
, who
sources have indicated is now heading to
after having decided to
delay his military service obligations.
GIANTX, who are rebuilding their roster from the ground up this offseason, are actively looking to secure players before the rest of the market opens up. The team has already reached out to multiple candidates at every position and may have contacted more players than any other team so far this offseason.
Among other departures,
sources have indicated that midlaner
will also be making his way to Heretics, marking a major loss for GIANTX, who had
spent considerable resources building him from his rookie tenure in 2024, after coming straight from the Hitpoint Masters, up to today, marking the end of his three-year tenure.
At this time, though, it remains too early to say what GIANTX could look to do in other positions, though
sources have indicated that the organization’s next focus is on locking in a jungler as soon as possible. Earlier this summer, the team made the
surprise move of bringing on toplaner
and AD Carry
in order to try and break its ceiling of back-to-back fourth-place finishes. Unfortunately, the move
did not pan out as expected, leaving the future of the players uncertain for now.
An Incredible Track Record
Originally making his debut in South Korea’s challenger system, Piero has come a long way to finally making his first appearance in a Tier 1 league. The now 24-year-old player originally kicked off his career at 18 years old under
’s third division. There, he competed for about a year and a half before eventually moving to the
LCK CL, still under their banner. In the league, he then competed for two splits, where he, funnily enough,
shared his spot with Jun of all players. There, though he was eventually replaced, he nonetheless brought his team to a
second-place finish in the Spring Playoffs of 2023.
Once his time in South Korea was over, Piero first
moved to in the
Prime League. There, he managed to win two finals, though he was unable to truly make a mark. His true success would come
upon joining Karmine Corp Blue, under which he made a name for himself, notably for his Pyke, with which he has
only lost a single competitive game ever, sitting at 11-1 today.
Two LFL titles and one EMEA Masters title later,
he moved to Solary, with whom he met perhaps his most successful year thus far. In 2026 alone, he helped establish the team’s dominance in European Tier 2, narrowly missing out on back-to-back EMEA titles in Spring, and now appearing in the WSCI grand finals as the sole European representative, despite a misstep in the LFL Summer Playoffs.
What is certain is that the future is bright for Piero, that he more than proved his true pedigree in the ERLs, and that he certainly earned his spot on GIANTX.
