Sources: MONSTEERR set to join Barça Esports for VCT EMEA 2027

Ondřej "MONSTEERR" Petrů has reached a verbal agreement with Barça Esports for the upcoming VCT EMEA season, sources tell Sheep Esports. With the likely arrival of the Czech player, the Catalan project has its final confirmed name, meaning the club should now have its full roster for 2027 and the new VALORANT Champions Tour format. As a reminder, the Spanish organization is still in contention for a partnership spot. The organization has consistently aimed to sign a roster capable of competing at the highest level of Tier 1 during the offseason, irrespective of Barça’s partnership status.

Sheep Esports has already reported that Adolfo “Fit1nho” Gallego will remain with the club for a third season, while Yusuf Emre "Proxh" Tunc, Mohammad “Pa1ze” Khatib, and Semyon “purp0” Borchev have also agreed to join for 2027. On the coaching staff, Barça is also expected to continue with Juan Carlos "meisoN" Chacón as Head Coach and Victor "xikii" Garcia as Assistant Coach, with the duo having already spent two seasons together at the club.

Having spent much of his career in Tier 2, playing for teams such as Enterprise Esports and Acend, the Czech player briefly experienced the VCT in late 2025 with Movistar KOI before the club left the EMEA league. He eventually joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2026, competing in VCL DACH, where he enjoyed a very promising season.

The German organization, the esports branch of the football club of the same name, started the season by consistently finishing near the top of the various Stage 1 weekly tournaments before eventually falling in the Grand Final of the first split to Fokus. MONSTEERR and his teammates thus qualified for Challengers EMEA, although they were unable to showcase their gameplay there. This difficult period continued into Stage 2 of the German league, where SGE failed to qualify for the second Challengers EMEA event.

The team eventually bounced back in the Last Chance Qualifier, securing the final spot in the VCT EMEA Stage 2 Play-In. A new addition to the 2026 format, the event gave Tier 2 teams a chance to face Tier 1 opponents and, most importantly, qualify for VALORANT Champions Shanghai. After losing their opening match against GIANTX, the German organization found its footing in the lower bracket, stringing together three consecutive wins against Gentle Mates, Team Heretics, and Eternal Fire to qualify for the playoffs. Starting the playoffs in the lower bracket, SGE eventually lost to Team Liquid, ending its run for a spot at Champions.
