FLY Quad: "We’re getting confident, and we are remembering how to win games"

It’s time for all the playoff teams from the 2026 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Summer Split to put up or shut up. came into the final week of the regular season still looking to beat another playoff-qualified team. The stakes were high as a win in their series against could help them finish fifth and draw a better Round 1 opponent.

FlyQuest had a rocky start, but showed signs of their Spring Split form that ultimately helped them secure a 2-0 series victory. Song “” Su-hyeong had an exclusive interview with Sheep Esports following the team’s victory. The Korean midlaner shared his thoughts on their recent scrim results, a beneficial meta change, and how their Round 1 match against could turn their season around.

Song “Quad” Su-hyeong: “Lock-In this season? Like Split 1? Like the difference between this split and Lock-In? Yeah, I remember.”

Quad: Oh, which one! I guess it was Shopify Rebellion. I remember because I played against (Yoo Baek-jin) Taliyah, maybe.

Quad: I think so. Honestly, today's win was really important because we were losing a lot, even in scrims, too. However, yesterday, we had the best scrims in Split 3. We’re getting confident, and we are remembering how to win games. Still, we made a mistake today, but we are so much better than in the other games. If we keep playing and keep practicing like this, we have a chance to make it to Worlds.

Quad: Honestly, yesterday, we usually start scrims at like 12, but we didn’t start at 12, so we were watching VODs, like LCK games or some games with our teammates and coaches. We saw how they were playing their comp and macro. Today, we were so much better. Maybe we remembered how to play the game after watching the VODs, but when we started to practice for Split 3, the first week was really good. After that, we were losing a lot somehow, but now, yeah.

Quad: When Split 3 started, the meta was really crazy. Every support was roaming, and then going mid, top, or jungle. It's difficult for us to play the game because we are almost like rookies. We are the youngest team in the Top 4 leagues. That's why it was really hard because we lack experience. They changed the support system, so the game is coming back to normal.

Quad: Yeah, two years.

Quad: When we have time, we are trying to watch the early game with them. Our coaches are trying really hard, but I also need to do my job, too. I need to watch my laning or my macro, so I think Apollo (Apollo Price) and Thinkcard are trying hard to work with them. They’re teaching how they need to play the early game in this meta, and then, when I play like Galio or something with an easy lane, I can glance more at other lanes. I was talking a lot in-game, telling them: “You need to see the top lane. You need to go top lane or bot lane. You need to go bot, or you need to keep it here.” Honestly, when I play Galio, that’s what I was doing. Basically, we're just watching the game a lot.

Quad: Honestly, I don't mind. The last two years, when I played with last year’s team, like (Gabriel Rau), (Kacper Słoma), and (Alan Cwalina), I didn't need to watch other lanes because I could focus only on my lane. Inspired and Bwipo always shot-called, and Busio called a lot, so I didn’t really need to care about other lanes. I just had to relay my information. However, this year is different because we have a lot of rookies. Sometimes I need to shot-call, but I don't mind because I always liked to shot-call when I was playing in Korea. I wouldn’t say I’m uncomfortable. It is the same, and I honestly don't care.

Quad: It always depends on your team and the enemy’s comp. I would assume my champ; when we have a scaling top and bot, maybe I need to be strong early. That’s a situation where you can pick like Taliyah or Ryze because you need to push and help the others, right? When you have a defensive bot or Bard, then Bard can help me in my lane, right? Then I can be a scaling champ. I always change my champ depending on our comp and the enemy’s.

Quad: Oh, I didn’t really care; we just focused on winning. Though, it's probably better not to play against C9. Maybe Sentinels is easier than C9. I think it's a benefit from today’s win.

Quad: We don't need to play against C9 in the first week of playoffs! [laughs]

Quad: I was thinking Sentinels kind of… We play against them because I think their support-jungle synergy is really good. Also, (Choi Jae-hyun) has a lot of experience. He's really doing well at playing the map. It’ll be hard to play against them, but now, Cryogen’s so much better than before. He's learned and grown a lot. Gryffinn (Johnson Le), too. We are coming down to play against them. I think it's fine.

Quad: They are using tempo pretty well. They know what to do every single timer. We shouldn't lose focus on any timer because they will punish us if we lose focus even one time. Also… They’re kind of crazy, like... When reset in a really safe way, I’m safe, but they’re trying to cancel my base, even though you get hit with like three turret shots. It was crazy, so I need to base more safely, maybe.”
