find themselves one loss away from being eliminated at
League of Legends Worlds 2026 after a closely contested match against defending champions,
. The LCP 2nd seed had control for most of the game, but a clutch teamfight off the back of T1 support
turned the tide in favor of the LCK juggernauts.
With this loss, CFO join the 1-2 pool of teams alongside
,
,
, and
. CFO will face Karmine Corp in their first best-of-three elimination match. If they win, the Flying Oysters will face one final do-or-die series in Round 5. Following the defeat against T1, the team’s head coach, Wong “Chawy” Xing Lei, spoke to
Sheep Esports.
We’ve seen a little bit of Chiu “Doggo” Tzu-Chuan staring back at the camera at this event and throughout his career. Do you have an idea of the win rate whenever he does that? Is it like a good luck charm?
Wong “Chawy” Xing Lei: “I have no idea about the win rate, but he is definitely a good-looking guy. I’m not sure if it’s a good luck charm. He just does it for fun because he has a lot of fans that like him not just for his gameplay but also for his good looks.
CFO have a pretty close record against T1 over the years. Do you think this is because of the fearless nature of the team and the LCP as a whole?
Chawy: I could never imagine that we could come this close to T1 every time we meet. It comes down to the preparation that we do and studying T1. We watch more games of T1 at least 100 times more than they watch ours. Everyone watches T1. I think it just comes down to preparation.
While you said it comes down to preparation, is there a way that you coach this fearlessness because ever since you joined CFO, the team has looked completely different?
Chawy: Oh, yes. I believe that’s also a point where I let the players be more fearless. We’ve watched the LCK dominate this tournament every single year for so many years. It’s always the LCK and then the LPL above the Western teams. I also like to study G2 because they have been performing so well at every international. The reason is that they are not afraid and are here to win.
That’s what I tell all my players, whether they are a rookie or a veteran. If you are afraid, you’ll never win. It’s been proven in the past ten years that the LCK is always going to win, so in order to break that trend you have to do something unusual.
Why do you think CFO have been able to match well against T1 historically? What were the differences you could identify in the decision-making compared to last year?
Chawy: As I said, I have no idea why we can play pretty evenly with T1. Somehow, we get a draft that we love, and we get to play more proactively on the map. Sadly, we lost today due to one engage. It’s pretty sad, but I have no idea why we play pretty decently against T1. Mostly, it’s the players wanting to win because they are against T1, as they are the world champions and beating them will make us feel so much better.
What is the main takeaway from today’s match?
Chawy: We haven’t been at our best throughout the year. We had a rocky start, ,but we somehow managed to make it to Worlds. I feel like we still haven’t been playing at our best level. Today’s biggest takeaway is how T1 played that teamfight when they were pretty behind the whole game and we were in control. If we continued to play like that and made no mistakes, we would have easily won with our champions. The way they took the teamfight was so great, with the Vi and Rakan looking for the engage and the Ambessa on the flank. The way they played that teamfight was so great.
CFO have prioritized banning Renata Glasc so far at Worlds, and you guys lost yesterday when you didn’t ban it. Is this because of the teams you are facing or Chu Wu “Kino” Hsin-Jung not being comfortable enough on her?
Chawy: I feel like it’s more against the meta because we knew before Worlds that all the ADCs got nerfed and there were very few ADCs that didn’t get nerfed. We found out the meta, and it’s part of our strategy.
Do you think CFO have had trouble adapting to the Worlds meta considering the LCP was the first region to conclude its playoffs?
Chawy: I think it’s pretty fine for us. Every team from every region has to guess the meta, right? For us, our first game at Worlds was the sixth game of the day, so we actually prepared a lot of different strategies. We tried to see how our meta read is compared to other teams. Luckily for us, it was pretty similar, and the popular champions are something that we have been practicing, so we are quite comfortable at this tournament.
What do you want to achieve at this year’s Worlds that you haven’t been able to achieve before?
Chawy: I don’t know, man. This year, we are pretty confident to say that we are not at our best yet. Right now, we saw all the #1 seeds in the 0-2 pool, Hanwha, and G2 in the 1-2 pool. There are so many strong teams at the bottom. If we can make it to the quarterfinals again, it is already a miracle.
In a hypothetical scenario where you remain with CFO for the next year, what can we look forward to in your third year with the organization?
Chawy: If I’m still with CFO next year, I’m hoping to recreate another aggressive team and have players that are not afraid to lose. If you have players who are afraid to lose, you can’t make the team as a whole. That’s going to be the aim for the next year.
The motto of this Worlds is “this is your moment”. Why is this your moment?
Chawy: Ten years ago, when I was still playing, I always believed it might be my last year, but ten years later I’m still here. It is always my moment.”
