Sheep Esports on Monday that it’s now the team’s Support Álvaro “
Alvaro” Fernández del Amo who has extended his contract
until 2027, with
an option of an additional year which will be
instantly triggered depending on the club's performance results. Alvaro will thus become
one of the highest-paid supports in the league, specifically the second-highest not farm from Karmine Corp’s American-Polish support Alan “Busio” Cwalina, who recently joined the LEC. Over the past few years, Alvaro’s status has grown, proving him to be one of the best supports in the West.
Jojo could follow
Alex “Myrwn” Pastor Villarejo, Joseph Joon “Jojopyun” Pyun, and David “Supa” Martínez García all reach the end of their contracts at the close of 2026, however, the club will decide on this matter during the season, having successfully renewed the three players they consider fundamental to the project, these being Melzhet Elyoya and Alvaro.
The Spanish club has already begun negotiations for Jojopyun's contract renewal, although these are still at a very early stage. To find out more about the future of the Spanish team, we will probably have to wait until the end of the year, when they will evaluate the rest of the squad and decide whether to keep the same players or make changes.
One of the West’s Top Supports
Since joining the LEC, Alvaro has steadily improved, rising to the top of the European league. With MAD Lions KOI in 2024, the year was mixed: a Winter final but a difficult follow-up with a sixth-place finish in Spring and seventh in Summer. Still, they managed to make it to the Regional Finals, marking Alvaro’s first appearance at Worlds.
In 2025, it was clearly a year of confirmation for him and MKOI: fourth place in Winter, Spring champions—which earned him a spot at his first Mid-Season Invitational. In Summer, the team reached the final and qualified for Worlds, where they exited in the Swiss Stage with a 2–3 record, losing their final match of the phase to the eventual Worlds champions, T1.
