Christophe "
Kaas" van Oudheusden will guide the Belgian
League of Legends team at the Esports Nations Cup from November 21 to 29 for the first edition of the ENC, announced the tournament organizers on Thursday
Kaas was selected by
Belgian National Team Manager Younes Lazaar to lead the squad. With six years of coaching experience, all spent at the Tier 1 level of Riot Games circuit between LEC and LCS, he also spent an equal amount of time on stage as a support before transitioning to the bench to pass on his knowledge, making him the logical choice for Belgium.
Several names appear to be strong candidates to represent Belgium at the ENC. In the toplane, Gabriël "
" Rau is by far the most prominent name, as no other Belgian toplaner has even played in the EMEA Masters during the last Winter split. The Road of Legends, the BENELUX league, also features no Belgian toplaners.
In the jungle role, Belgium faces a similar situation. Ismaïl "
" Boualem stands out as the clear option, although the Franco-Belgian player
has expressed a desire to represent France if the opportunity arises. No other names really emerge, as no Belgian junglers currently play in either the Road of Legends or the EMEA Masters.
In the midlane, the name of Yasin "
" Dinçer naturally stands out. The 27-year-old veteran is expected to be Belgium’s midlaner for the competition. Since the start of the year, he has created his own club, ZYB Esports, and has moved to the LFL for at least the
remainder of the season. The Road of Legends also features a Belgian midlaner who recently joined Once Upon a Team, Flavien "
" Goffinet, who is also eligible for selection.
In the botlane, Raphaël "
" Crabbé is an obvious choice for the support role. However, finding his AD Carry partner may be more limited. Kaas could choose between two botlaners competing in the ROL: Mark "
" Legrand from Dinasty, and Simon "
" Bogaerts, who plays for Once Upon a Team.
