are among the first two teams eliminated from the
knockout stage of the
2026 Esports World Cup, alongside Hanwha Life Esports. After a straight 0-2 loss to
in the quarterfinals, their run in the year’s first international tournament comes to an end.
Chen “
” Wei stopped by to share his first thoughts. He said the task was simply too big on the day, described Gen.G and
as the tournament favorites, and is already looking ahead to the third and final LPL split, where he believes anything can still happen in a league that remains wide open.
After the match ended, what was your immediate feeling?
Chen "GALA" Wei: “It feels like there’s still quite a big gap in strength between us and Gen.G. Even when we had an advantage, we never really felt like we were close to win. But everytime they got an advantage, it was actually very hard for us to deal with.
This time you were facing one of the tournament favorites, how did you and your team prepare for this match beforehand?
GALA: We actually came in with a mindset of learning. Overall, when facing them, we didn’t feel too much pressure. However, in terms of in-game execution today, there were definitely a lot of regrettable moments. So after losing, it still feels quite tough.
Through this international event, what do you think you’ve gained or learned the most?
GALA: Personally, I think I need to trust myself more. And in-game, I hope I can provide more help to the team in the future.
Also, how does it feel to work with Coach Wong "Tabe" Pak Kan again? How has he helped you and your teammates improve?
GALA: As for Tabe, he often emphasizes aspects related to the support and jungle roles. Working with him, there’s nothing particularly unusual, maybe just more discussion around champion picks. I communicate more with him, and he also trusts me.
Do you think that after the third stage of the LPL, your team has the ability to face BLG head-on?
GALA: I think when playing in the LPL, all teams have the potential to challenge each other. I think our team still lacks experience on the international stage.
Xiao Wangwang, which team do you think has the best chance to win this EWC?
GALA: Personally, I believe Gen.G and BLG are the strongest teams in the tournament.”
