DFM coach set for new chapter

Kakeru "Vorz" Ikarashi, head coach of DetonatioN FocusMe during the 2026 season, is set to join Crazy Raccoon as head coach in 2027, sources tell Sheep Esports. The Japanese organization has been selected as a partner team for the next VCT Pacific cycle, covering 2027 and 2028, unlike DFM. Having spent several years in the Japanese scene, Vorz is therefore expected to continue coaching at the Tier 1 level.
He began his coaching career with Northeption before joining ZETA DIVISION's academy team in 2022, where he notably worked with Kazuya "yatsuka" Ikeda. The two reunited at RIDDLE in 2024 and 2025, dominating Challenger Japan by winning four splits and the 2025 Season Finals. They eventually joined DetonatioN FocusMe in Seoul for the 2026 season.
A challenging year for DFM
Under Vorz's leadership as head coach in 2026, DetonatioN FocusMe showed occasional signs of progress but struggled to establish itself among the top teams in VCT Pacific.
DFM started the year on a positive note, finishing fifth and narrowly missing out on qualification for an international LAN for the first time outside of LOCK//IN in 2023, when all teams were invited. The team then reached the VCT Pacific Stage 1 playoffs for only the second time in its history, finishing fourth in Group Omega ahead of fellow Japanese organizations ZETA DIVISION and VARREL. However, its run ended in the first round following a 2-1 loss to Rex Regum Qeon.
After missing out on the Esports World Cup, Vorz also led the Japanese national team to the Esports Nations Cup VALORANT Main Event through the Asian qualifier. The tournament has since been postponed to 2027, partly due to tensions in the Middle East. DFM's final VCT Pacific campaign was similarly inconsistent, with three wins and two losses in the group stage followed by an opening Play-In defeat to Tier 2 side Sharper Esports. The team recovered with victories over QT DIG and ZETA DIVISION but ultimately fell to T1 in the decisive match for a playoff spot.
