This article is not complete. We will be updating teams as we know more.
It’s no secret that times are changing, and
Epic Games are certainly not pulling any punches. From
Rocket League’s
transition to Unreal Engine 6 to a major revamp of the RLCS that will introduce a new partner league dubbed the Club Championship, the
RL esports landscape is
set to change forever in 2027. With a new revenue-sharing model, cosmetics, formats, and more, now is the perfect time to get excited about Rocket League esports more than ever.
This change comes at a particularly crucial time, as Rocket League has struggled to keep itself afloat on the esports side in recent years, with multiple high-profile organizations leaving the scene, notably due to low revenue. In 2024, Team BDS, two-time World Champions,
notably stated at the end of that year that the game had
“not proven to be sufficiently profitable to sustain long-term involvement.”G2 Esports also left the scene around the same time, with the team’s CEO, Alban Dechelotte,
citing that “
the support we get from the publisher and the tournament organizer of this scene only covers 20% of the costs to operate a Tier 1 roster.”In 2027, all of that will change.
The RLCS 2027 Club Championship Founding Teams
There is no time to lose. As
confirmed by Epic Games, the RLCS 2027 Club Championship is
set to begin on December 9 and run through December 13, with things set to be bigger than ever. With a new format and an expansion from eight to 24 teams, this year’s Kick-Off LAN will take place at
London’s Copper Box Arena, a venue that has hosted three RLCS events in the past, and will feature the best that Rocket League esports has to offer.
The only catch:
Unreal Engine 6 will not make its debut just yet. Indeed, the competitive scene will, according to sources, continue with Unreal Engine 3 until March’s LAN, before a competitive break allows the new teams joining the league to fully pivot into the post-UE6 era.
One important caveat as well: the 20 teams selected to join the Club Championship are not yet final. Per sources, the list includes organizations to which Epic Games has officially extended an invitation to join, even if some teams could still decline. Here are the teams that we have thus far confirmed to have been selected as potential founding members:
If they accept, teams will have to move quickly. As previously reported, new partnered organizations are expected to finalize their rosters by mid-October, only a month after the conclusion of the
RLCS 2026 World Championship. Many players are already on the market, and notably, Tristan
"Atow." Soyez, Alexis
"zen" Bernier, and Axel
"Vatira" Touret are currently
caught in a bidding war between Rocket League’s elite organizations
Team Vitality,
Karmine Corp, and
Gentle Mates.
